    December is Expensive!!!

I always have gotten my DCKs birthday presents for their birthday's and Christmas presents for Christmas. Well this year I have 4 children I didn't have last year, whose birthdays are all this month! Not to mention in a 6 week span we celebrate both of my daughters birthdays, my husbands birthday, my birthday, 4 DCKs birthdays and Christmas for the DCKs and Christmas for our family! Going forward, I think I will just starting giving them books with handwritten notes for their birthdays, and then a little gift for Christmas.

Books sound like a great gift! happyface

I am making photo albums for 12 children and really don't know why I did that to myself. ::
I think next year may be books...

I have a birthday box....a computer paper box with a lid that is wrapped in BD paper. I fill it with $1.00 items from the dollar store. I actually find some decent stuff to put in that box. The kids have a great time trying to decide on their gift. They get the birthday bear at their spot for snack time, get the BD top spun, and we play Hap Palmer's birthday song. They have a blast and feel very special and that little gift from the big box is loved just as much as a bigger gift.

For Chirstmas I always go after Christmas and get gifts for about $3.00/4.00 and decide who gets them the next year.

The BD box is a great idea! It's kind of like the treasure chest at my daughter's dentist...the only problem is it takes her FOREVER to choose a prize...

LOVE Black Friday for these types of problems!!!

I stock up on movies from Walmart for $1.96. They are all kids movies and all good ones too.
I also got the $2.50 CARS from Walmart. Each young boy will get a Lightning McQueen.

In addition to either a movie or a car, each child will get a goodie bag that I put together from the dollar store. I get the gift bags 15/$1 and 3-4 items to put in it. This year I got erasers 9/$1, pencils 12/$1, sticker sheets 80 stickers/$1 so each kid will get 1-2 sheets.
I also stocked up on crayons in August when they were on sale for 33 cents, so each goodie bag will get a box of 24 crayons.

Fairly good Christmas gifts for under $3!!!

And if I can keep track of who got which movie or who got a car - the extra movies/cars can be used as birthday gifts.

Before I read your post I was thinking my birthday box is like the prize box my dentist had when I was a kid Yes, it can take them a long time to decide! I have just as much fun scouting the dollar stores for decent items that they will like. I am a shopper @ lovethis happyface It's the little things that make life fun.

I only give a birthday gift if I'm invited (and attend) the child's birthday party. For Christmas, I used to spend $10/child but found the kids get SO much from so many people/venues that they don't know who gave them what after 5mins and they really don't care. I decided to pare back on my spending in general and am making most of the gifts I'm giving. The kids in my life are all getting home made playdough (gingerbread, chocolate & peppermint) with a Christmas shaped cookie cutter tied to the package.
Doing what I love and loving what I do.
