    Sickness=No Naps

    Everyone is back finally all back today from being sick. First time I've had the bunch all at once in a week.

    But (theres always one, isn't there) no one will sleep!!!! Several parents said their child slept alot while sick (12+ hours) at a time. So it looks like they were getting their sleep out while at home. No need to sleep now for nap!

    I was just thinking about you and your napping situation.

    I have noticed that some of my kids try to do things to stimulate themselves so taht they will not fall asleep. things like

    twisting up the blanket
    crossing their legs so they can click their toes together
    chewing on their shirts
    and so on

    so when I see this I make them lay palms up with legs slightly spread. I then sit and rub their back. I will go around the room and do this to the ones needing help. it usually takes about 20 min and all of them are out.......

    do you notice your dck doing things like I mentioned?

      My biggest thing is the talking, talking, talking, talking, talking-whoa-sorry that got long!

      Its really like they can't turn their brains off. We have been trying to lay down since 12;30 (normal time) and 3 out of 5 just now fell asleep. I have laid them in other areas today and that ended up in them running around, rolling around, singing, etc. Put a couple in the quiet area (one at a time) same thing. They literally can't relax/quiet their body down. I have quiet music (water sounds, black out curtains up).

      I think by the end of the week they must be exhausted!

      It really shouldn't take this long for them to fall asleep. I know their tired because they will fall asleep if they just relax. Most have been up since 6 oclock!

        Yep. My week of naps is screwy also. Sickness here means that kids are ready for their cots around 10. I just can't let a sick child stay up when they want to sleep! Today I had 3 sleeping at 11 & naptime is 1:30. I don't have to tell you how that played out!
