I received a T.E.A.C.H. scholarship the entire time I was in college.

What did you need help with?

I would be glad to help you out if I can. You can PM me if you don't want to post openly.

I seen you can use it for CDA or college, Im not sure which one I should do..or if it has to be the CDA first. I have never attened any college classes, so Im not sure what I would need.

Did you just fill put the application, and go from there?

Every state is a little different. If you don't have it already, here is the link for Ohio.

In our case, the first step was a phone call. They then offered me a counselor who could help set my goals and decide how to attain them.

Once you fill out the application and are awarded the grant, there is a contract you have to fulfil. It states what your goals are and such and how long you have to complete them.

Here in my state the CDA certificate/degree course are college classes so if you aren't intending on earning an A.A. or Bachelor's degree, then I would start with just applying for the CDA part. If you choose to go on from the CDA and earn a degree, they (CCR&R) will usually just modify your contract and give yo the grant for the next part of the process.

So start with the CDA and once you have earned that then decide from there where you want to go.

Do you have courses for the CDA offered through your local community college or is it offered through the CCR&R?

Either way, it counts for credits but I was just curious.

          Hope that helps

Yea I went to the website and called..they just told me to go to the website. I seen that it had a list of community colleges, but the one in my area was not listed. I guess I will fill it out and hope for the best..

I working with TEACH right now to go back to school and get my BA in early ed. I'm petrified! I have an Associate of Arts degree so I've done some of this before but it's just so confusing and so much to do. I'm probably just afraid of the change so I'm making it harder than it actually is. How do people who have childcare businesses do the field experience? What if I fail the PRAXIS test and have to keep retaking it and then I have to wait to enroll? (It's been a long time since I was in school) All of this and more is going through my head and I'm so nervous. My stomach has butterflies and my hands are almost shaking. I just need a very detailed check list.

So do you have to have your CDA credential, before you can get and Early Childhood Associate Degree? I am filling out the t.e.a.c.h application right now

What made you go straight to Associate's Degree and not CDA first?

When the state changes to pay based on education an Assoc will be paid more than a CDA.

I actually wanted to go for my bachelor's but the college wouldn't let me bc my current degree is not child related.

All online including student teaching. It is great! Requires dedication and self discipline, but so worth it!
