    Being Stood Up

Hello! I am new to this site but not to Day Care. I've been a registered provider for 10 years. Lately I have been getting calls for Day Care where they ask my price and schedule an interview with me. But they never show up. This is so frustrating. Does this happen to anyone else? I try to make myself feel better by saying im better off. .

Happens all the time at our center. You're definately better off if they can't respect your time upfront.

This used to happen to me ALL the time. It was very frustrating, time consuming and disruptive. I do things a but differently now. I now hold ONE monthly "Open House Event" one Saturday a month for just 1 hour. I list the schedule of events on my website ( you could also advertise this on craigslist). Parents still need to contact me to get my address (as I do not publicly advertise that) at the time of inquiry I email them my full handbook and ask that they read over the information before they attend the Open House that way I can answer any questions or clarify any policies they may need further clarification on. I have a Sign In sheet that parents sign when they arrive (this also acts as my wait list). I hold these events every month whether or not I have any openings or not. It's good to keep your name circulating. Once I have an opening I start down the list. I only allow parents to come for a day visit once a space is available and the parent wants to sign their child up. I also limit this visit to a max 20min, as its very disruptive to the other children to have ppl in and out. I have found that this has worked out great for me. It has cut down on un nessary "waiting around" for ppl who never show up. I schedule out the 1 hr every month (sit down with some dc pp work) and hey even if no one shows up I have taken that 1hr to catch up on pp work.

I know that some people here don't give out their address until 1 hour before the scheduled interview. Maybe you could try that?
