What Type of Experience Is Needed?

I am a stay at home mom with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing/Advertising. I am interested in starting a small at-home daycare, but was reading that you need a degree in childhood education. I was a Director of Children's Ministry at my church. Would that type of experience count? Are there exceptions to this rule? I love children & would like to start a business like this, with the eventual plan of going back to school to get my teaching certification (I've already taken the Praxis Exam & passed); however, we don't have the funds for me to do that right now. I also volunteered in a 3rd grade classroom, so I'm hoping my experience will be sufficient.

    Thanks so much!

I have no degree. In my state I can care for 6 kids, including my own, & no more than 2 or 3 under age 2. Can't remember since all mine are currently 3! Good luck!
