My dcb who screams through the entire pre-lunch process, didn't cry AT ALL today. I made him a picture chart that is laminated and has velcro, and he is able to put up each 'photo' of him doing the next thing on the board. (come inside, put shoes away, hang up coat, go potty, wash hands, help set table, etc) I hope it continues to work, he was in awe and I was right, he was overwhelmed with the lunch rush (as I often am too!) YAY!
Yay!

Could you explain what his issue was and what you did to help him a little more?? It sounds wonderful- Flag

It was such a relief, we practiced with it this morning and I was cautiously optimistic. He came in, started to get upset and then I helped him with the first 'task' and that was it, it was a race to get everything on his chart done. He was happy as can be giggling back and forth.- Flag

this is obviously not his schedule, but it is exactly what I reproduced. My DS has autism and was non verbal/low level of communication and since dcb is just beginning to talk, I thought it might work for him to 'see'. (since my explanations weren't understood)
