    Getting My Fitness On!

I've gained quite a few pounds since starting my daycare this past summer It seemed like nothing i did worked! I even have Shawn T's Insanity workout program. For the first time a couple of weeks ago I did something I swore I would never do! I started taking diet pills! These made me gain weight! I have alwasy been in pretty good shape, especially for having 2 kids. I found it difficult to keep a schedule because my daycare was just starting and I was constantly giving tours of my home and adjusting to new kids and schedules This weekend I found second hand gold! Friday I purchased a one year old elliptical machine on Craigslist for $20! Saturday I purchased a brand new Power Juicer at a garage sale. The juicer was still wrapped in plastic, and in its original box! I juiced yesterday and today. I plan to at least get on the elliptical for 20 minutes or more during nap, since I only used the elliptical for 20 minutes when I went to the gym. I am going to try to squeeze in time for weight lifting and ab work(maybe in the morning). Of course I haven't seen any results in two days, but I feel amazing! I have lots of energy! I spent an hour this morning raking leaves into large piles while the kids jumped in them and spread them out across the yard again!. I will be moving soon, and will have to start my daycare business from the ground up once more, but I am sure 20 minutes at nap will be easy to keep up with. Stay fit ladies and gents. It's good for your brain!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my elliptical! I bought insanity last christmas and well.... I don't have 60 solid minutes at nap (plus shower time because I was SOAKED in sweat!) I hop on the elliptical after bedtime for my kids and then take a long hot bath every evening. It's my natural/endorphin/stress release!

I agree with all of this. I found it hard to do the videos when I was paranoid that someone would wake up and walk in the room at anytime!

I hate ellipticals because they are hard on my lower back...

I having been scouring Craiglist for a recumbent exercise bike. I need to lose 30-35 lbs. THis is ridiculous!

I guess all machines have their pros and cons I prefer the elliptical because I get a running like motion without causing stress on my joints. Hitting the pavement and running on the treadmill are both very hard on my knees and ankles.

            Good for you! happyfacehappyfacehappyface

It was a little rude of me to blast your eliptical, and not even encourage you!

That is so great! I'm really happy that you're feeing good. I love the elliptical too. Last year I could barely do 10 minutes on it at the gym and now I"m up to 1 hr and love it! It is such a fluid movement. I need to lose weight too. I just started this app on my phone called couch to 5K. You do a 5 minute walk warm up and then the first week you walk 1 minute and then run 1 minute 8 times and then do a 5 minute cool down walk. The second week (which is what I"m on now) is both 5 minute warm up walk and cool down walk and it's a 90 second run and 2 minute walk. I really like it. I like getting out of the house at night when it's peaceful outside and having "Me" time.

So great that you're doing this!!!

Really happy for you too, OP! I am also doing the couch to 5 k, just finishing week 1. Already I am feeling so much better. It's amazing what 1/2 hour of taking care of yourself can do! Way to go! We should all support each other.

You are Julie? that's awesome. Which one are you doing? I'm doing the Run Double one. I love it because it shoes a map of my route and it shows in one color what part I ran and another color what part I walked. What made you start with this program? My son is a huge runner (14 yrs ) and is the number 1 Freshman cross country runner and my daughter (12 yrs) just started cross country this year so we are surrounded by runners. I thought it would be a good challenge for me. Plus I actually like walking outside in the winter more than the summer. It's so quiet out and I don't mind the cold. It's a hard program, but it's nice to see improvement every time. I'm on week 2, day 2. This one that I"m doing is a 3 day a week program. Would love to hear more about yours. Maybe PM me so we don't hijack thread LOL!

I'm going to have to look this up, but I usually hibernate indoors until the time change in Spring.

Run Double has one and it's a free 2 weeks. After that I think the app is only like $1.60. I'm weird. I like walking outside in the winter when it's silent outside. Not to sound bad, but in the summer it's so distracting walking because of other walkers, kids running around playing, neighbors to stop and talk to etc. Not that any of that is bad, I love all of that, but after a long day it's nice to be outside with nature and having quiet time. The running is new to me though, usually I just walk.

There's nothing like exercise and caring for yourself to lift your spirits.
I've been in a bit of a slump with exercise lately. I have to get back at it.
