I have a hard time with siblings and every time I take them on, it has never turned out great... I know others may not agree, but i am speaking from my own personal experiences.

It sounds like this family is moving and you will be out the other child too...
Me, too! I have taken on four sibling sets (one is gone) and will never do so again. Ever.

      I'm in Maryland...........

I've had siblings in the past and the only thing that ****s is that when one goes they both go so your losing 2 spots instead of 1 other then that I haven't had bad luck but I do prefer singles! I am definately going to ponder this one over the weekend cause really come Dec 20th she could turn around and say his last day is the end of the year and then I am stuck scrambling to fill a spot!

        ^ THIS!

I no longer accept siblings. After my dcb ages out (18 months away, but still) his SA big sister will be getting the boot as well. I will no longer be accepting siblings or SA'ers and that will be my 'out' (no more SA care).

It sounds like they aren't planning on even keeping DCK with you (they could be giving notice Dec 20th, not signing on and agreeing to pay a hold for the NB)

Fill spots as needed, this is NOT your problem, imho. I wouldn't even wait for a Dec 20th date as that is almost a month away AND it could go in their favor with the house and you would have waited for a two week notice. I would simply say to dcm "Oh, I didn't realize that you were planning on moving out of the area. We will just have to wait and see if I have openings if you are still in the area when baby comes"

I would absolutely e-mail Mom that. "I did not realize that your family was planning on moving out of the area. Hopefully an opening will be available for you precious baby should you need it if you are still in the area when baby needs daycare. "

My contract is 30 days notice but they can leave anytime they just don't get their deposit back! If I let them go in less then 30 days I have to refund their deposit which isn't a big deal if I get someone to sign on. So really after finding out about the 20th they could just leave whenever they want if they don't care about their security deposit. I swear I love my job to death but sometimes when it rains it pours!!!!! I contacted 2 people that emailed me looking for care so I am just waiting to hear back from them now.
