I worked Monday through Friday, 10 hours a day for a few years. then my Friday kids dwindled to just 1 and then he went to 1/2 day. When that happened, I didn't take any more on Fridays and he went to school. I've worked M-Th now for about 7 years and it is the only thing that saves me. I was so burned out working 50 hours I don't think I would still be in the business if I did it again. I highly recommend it!

Hi I am new to this and to daycare. I have 3 of my own children, one of which has alot of anxiety issues which brings me to wanting to not do M-F. He is having way too much anxiety over this and has even lost weight and I only opened abt 1 month ago. The school is seeig his anxiety increase as well
I feel bad changing in mid stream but I dont plan to make this change until July 2013 and plan on telling the 2 families I have this week. I have to do what is in the best interest of my own family so why do I feel so bad? One of which wants to go p/t this summer anyway from being full time now. The other is just starting but I am giving them 6 months notice. I also am also adjusting my hours as well from 6:30-5:30 to new hours being 7:30-4:30.
I plan on verbally telling them should I follow up with a letter and new contract as well? Thanks for any and all advice

I am only open M-Th. Originally I was still working a 0.4 at the hospital, which meant everyother Friday, so I couldn't offer care on Fridays. I went to a casual status within the first 6 mos of doing daycare, but never offered to be open to daycare on Fridays. I still work at the hospital some Fridays. Otherwise I help out at my kids school or once in a while I do nothing! I charge slightly less than a 5 day daycare, about $10 less per week. But my charges are based on pick up times. So if they needed short hours, say 8-3:30, they would be paying about $30 less.

I've never been 100% at capacity, but I think I could be if I really pursued advertising.
