well I've been in the child care profession for 14 years, but was in a center setting for that time. I know what/things to do in that type of setting, but it's different for a home in terms of space and the creative things to do to make the space work. Anyways, I'm opening my home daycare after the holidays and I found this site and have gotten many ideas and advice form you through reading posts!
Well, I am glad I am useful!

I started out working in Head Start, was there for 5 years. Had every daycare providers worst nightmare as my own child, () decided to open my own family daycare but wanted to avoid the difficulties of trying to do this job in the same place I live in so I bought a separate house and went from there.

I am licensed as family child care but have all the perks of being a center.

If I can help you out in any way, don't be shy about asking.

Just PM me or start a thread....I usually have my lap top and/or phone open to this site all through the day so I am not hard to find and am always happy to help in any way I can!

My ideas arent always that great.....they are just born from stupidity..usually my own.

After doing this job for 20 years, you learn real fast what ideas are smart and which ones are dumb.

Unfortunately for me, I learn from "doing" so I do dumb first and before I figure out smart.

Thanks I really appreciate it! My goal is to do the same..there are a few women by me that did the same-one bought a house too and one a small private center type, and are doing great so I figure I may be able to do it too, once I get going.
