Great, But Bummer at the same time

DC Mom told me this morning that she's pregnant. I'm so happy for her and her husband and almost 3 yr old daughter! However, I don't take infants anymore. I only take 16 months and over. This likely means I'll lose the little girl, as they won't want to take kids to 2 different daycares. So sad. Love the little cutie, and also it might be hard to replace her. I had a heck of a time last time I had vacancies. She's due in June. Maybe I should start looking NOW! .

I have a similar issue. I had a dcm become pregnant and surprisingly kept her son with me once the baby came. I've been full the whole time so her daughter is number one priority when I do get an opening (her daughter will be about 16 months old when the next definite opening comes). In the meantime, I have another dcm who is now pregnant and unless something changes, there will be no room for her child for more than a year after her child is born. I told the dcm not to pin her hopes on me for the newborn because it is unlikely there will be an opening. I really hope it works out like it did with the other dcm because her daughter is wonderful and so are the parents! On top of it all, my playroom, schedule and curriculum will not easily accommodate a baby. Granted, I could always adjust, but my favorite child care age groups do not include babies (I love them, but I very much prefer ages 2-5).
