    Music During Hours

I have a thing for music-all kinds. It calms me, especially during hours when things can get hectic. Would there be a problem with me listening to music throughout the day(loud enough for everyone to hear). When I say I listen to all kinds, I mean literally all kinds(nothing inappropriate) rock, jazz, country, classical. Should I find an alternative? Or should I be alright as long as I heavily censor everything I listen to? Thanks

Are you an in-home childcare provider? Then yes! Honestly, I listen to my "poppy" music all day. It's appropriate and gets me in a better mood. The kiddos love dancing with me when a GREAT song comes on!

Yes, I am. Music helps feel collected. Especially when dealing with more difficult children. Ha!

I also have music on most of the day. It ranges from kid's music, jazz, the Frank Sinatra station, symphony...Kid's music mostly, but if I need to destress, you'll find it on jazz or Grateful Dead. Seems to readjust my moods! I love our satellite radio!

I usually have on my own fav station during the day...at least until I get requests from the crowd for something else! Once we move into other activities, outside of dancing, I change it back to my station. I usually turn up the volume a bit when the kids CD's are in, but they have been known to get down to my music as well from time to time!

I agree with all of you, but our "coach" helping us get aligned with ITERS and ETERS told me that we are to use music for short time periods and had to turn it off to encourage more speech and communication skills with the kids.

We have music on almost the entire day (mostly classical), and the children do not slow down the amount they communicate AT ALL when the music is on. ::

I kind of get that...the kids are loaded with sensory input every waking moment now-a-days thanks to all our gadgets. Most of us are trying to get to more non-electronic toys and go for more simple things.

I usually have some "toddler" music on for about an hour in the morning, and some days I stream a contemporary station on my laptop. I like my old Madison station sometimes because it makes me feel a little more connected to the world.

If I had an observer comming, I'd just skip it that day.

I have satellite radio (Sirius/XM) and have it on all day. I have a portable one (like an i-pod) and it goes EVERYWHERE with me.

I play what I like (I'm old school rock and metal) in the kitchen area and I play kid music in the kid areas. Right now it is Christmas songs and the only way they don't get stuck in my head is being able to walk into the kitchen and listen to my stations...

I rotate my pandora station from Christmas music, classical, and toddler tunes. It really calms my nerves and the kids love it. As long as its kid appropriate, i say go for it!

Oh wow! I would have asked them if I was breathing too much too.....

I listen to music all day. A mix from kids stuff to classical opera. Never stops my little ones from chatting away. Infact, they sometimes comment on the music and we get a "teaching" moment about what the song is saying, or how it makes them feel etc.

I play music all day and all different types. It exposes the kids to music they wouldn't normally hear. Why would playing music all day interfere with a child's ability to talk? My class has never had a problem.
