    Weight Gain-I can't stand it anymore

    Went to the drs. last week and gained another 5lbs since August-:confused: I literally wanted to cry, cry, cry. I have gained 70 lbs. since hubs and I married. I can't stand looking at my body anymore or doing anything.

    This is one reason I wear yoga pants-I have nothing else to wear. The pants I wore last spring I cant even get on. I figure why spend if I'm not going to be able to wear them very long.

    In the last two years I have gained 35lbs since starting childcare fulltime again. Nothing I have done has gotten it down. I was really exercising this summer and gained 10 lbs! Then I hurt my foot couldn't exercise, it was healing nicely and I rehurt it. I didn't break it but there are days I can barely walk on it.

    I eat out of boredom! I used to eat sooooo healthy and now the thought of it almost gags me. Nothing even sounds good to me either. When I drink water, I feel soooooo bloated/heavy stomach feeling and I have to go to the bathroom like every 10 minutes which we know is impossible!

    I literally have no time for the gym. I would like to go about 3/4 times a week but our evenings are full with dinner/homework/cleaning and getting ready for the next day. The gyms here close by 9:00 also. I have tried to do stuff during naptime but I have kids that take forever to nap and by the time they fall asleep I have others coming in the door so there's no time there. I can't do anything in the mornings (it takes me a long time to wake up).

    I honestly want to be healthy, get to a great weight (50lbs ago) and look/feel good about myself. I really don't even like to look at myself when I was younger because of how much weight I have gained. I used to love being in pictures but now I fear being around cameras.

    So has anyone done a dramatic weight loss and kept it off. How did you do it?

    Weight watchers helped me get really close to pre baby weight.

    I eat out of boredom too, and I thought it woukd be really hard to "limit" myself. But it was honestly one of the easiest things I have done. Yes, there were struggles, but I find (for myself) if I cam go to the meetings, I can stay on track. I'm a lifetime member now, and I have been for 5 years. Lifetime, just means, I've hit my goal weight and I've stayed within 3 lbs of it.

      hmm are you my clone because I have the same problem. When you figure out the answer let me know. I think my problem is that I eat way too much. and drinking coffee doesnt help either. I would love to call a dietician or a nutritionist to help me out but I think I have to pay for them.

        I lost 80 lbs a few years back in a period of 6 months just by eating sensible portions of EVERYTHING (didn't cut anything out) and walking for 60 minutes a day! I gained the weight back a time later because I had a injury that required surgery and I was laid up for a considerable amount of time - that combined with some depression caused me to gain it back. I will lose it again after this pregnancy (I had actually lost close to 20 pounds right before finding out I was pregnant, so I'll continue the process after baby is born)!

        My mother lost over 100 lbs in under a year by cutting sugar and white flour from her diet - no excersize. She's kept it off for several years and looks great... and so do her meals!!

          When my DH found out he was insulin diabetic, our whole family learned to eat much better and much healthier...no white foods, whole grains, no sugar, lots of fruit and veggies etc and besides DH (who was only 180lbs at 6ft 3 inches in the first place) we all lost weight.

          I am 20-25 lbs lighter today than before he got diabetes. Following a diabetic diet is a great way to eat healthy!

            Are you sure there is no medical reason for your gain? Like thyroid? I am sorry you are feeling dscourged right now. Weight watchers is so easy & all,the recipes i,have tried have been yummy. I did not do it for long though because of the time issue. Going back to work while breastfeeding was all i had time for. There is a website called Ginasskinnyrecipes that has good stuff too. She gives nutritional info & ww points too!

              I too have gained an incredible amount of date. Right now I need to lose 80 pounds to be at a normal weight for my height. I feel horrible, ugly, and can't stand having my picture taken. Lately I have decided I am not going to sit by and watch my life pass me by. I get winded even dancing with the kids, so I am working HARD to get my weight under control. For me, I really thinking I have an eating disorder. I eat a lot. Just big portions and when I try to cut down I end up binging it is awful.

              Right Now I started taking a multivitamin from GNC that I bought at Sam's Club. It's an energy and metabolism booster. Actually dh bought it and I laughed, but after taking it for 2 weeks I felt a huge imrpovement in my fatigue and energy. I also got a membership to the YMCA and they have zumba every day at 6:30pm. I go Mon, Wed, Fri because it's lower intensity and the lady is super nice. There are also many women my size, which makes it easier to do.

              I also hired a cleaning lady. I actually barter with one of my parents. She "charges" me $50/week and I deduct that from her bill each week. It is awsome. She comes in 1 day a week. One week she does the bathroom, the daycare room, general clean up of kitchen and office. The next week she does master bedroom, deep clean kitchen and living room/daycare room. She is wonderful and I love love love not having to rush around after the kids leave and try to get everything done. It has freed me up to go to the gym at night. I HIGHLY recommend it. It is worth every penny to me.

              I also take the kids on a walk 2-3 days per week in the stroller. I think you have way more kids than me, but I put 3 in a stroller and 1 walks and I walk at a good pace for an hour. So that combined with the zumba and trying to eat sensibly is helping.

              Oh, and I log my food and exercise with myfitnesspal. You can go to the website or get the phone ap and it has helped me track my weight, calories, exercise, etc. You can also connect with other people who are trying to lose weight too. My goal is to lose 50lbs by June of next year.

              I'm sorry you are feeling down. I do understand completely how you feel. I went from a size 10 to a size 24 within 3 years. (And 10 was great for my size and hip width ) And I had my thyroid checked, blood sugar, vitamin b, iron, etc. There was nothing wrong with me. I have fatigue, headaches, difficulty sleeping, my body aches all the time, even wearing shoes hurts, I have few clothes I can actually fit into. We even had to buy a king size bed because ours was getting too small When I start to feel good about myself, I look at a photo of me and realize I look aweful!

              I'm sorry this got so long, I'm just trying to help. I have to force myself to get to the gym. I have to force myself to get out of bed somedays. But maybe if we help each other and motivate each other, we can all lose weight together? I'd be willing to try...

                Taking the kids on daily walks. Not purchasing ANY junk food so there is no temptation ever.

                  Oh my word I could have written the same. I find it so hard to find time to exercise and I'm so tired at night. There are some classes I'd love to take but they are too expensive. My husband works 2-3 nights a week too so that makes it difficult. I know I eat portions that are too big & eat when I'm stressed or bored but despite knowing this I still do it! Grrrrrr. I will be watching this thread closely!

                    I lost 60lbs after my last baby and have kept it off for 3 years! I am up 5 at the moment because I have been going out to eat with dh and thanksgiving but I KNOW where I erred and can correct it easily. I eat when the kids eat, even if I am not hungry. I learned that I didn't know when I was hungry, thirsty and would wait until I was STARVING to eat and OVEREAT. Now I eat several small meals and get active with the kids indoors and out (we do jumping jacks and dance at circle time now, etc)

                      I was told to lose weight last August (2011) as I was overweight, had high blood pressure and was 29yrs old. I had my thyroid checked and that wasn't it. Finally after seeing christmas photos from lastmyear i HAD IT!

                      January of this year i was 171lbs and im 5'2"

                      My doctor put me on a diabetic diet and I had to meet with a nutritionist every two weeks for 3mo. From mid Jan to mid April I went from 171lbs to 142lbs. My goal was to lose 30lbs by my 30th bday which was May31st. By my bday I weighed 130lbs. I lost 41lbs. I continues a very strict diabetic diet (as I was diabetic when pregnant with my son 4yrs ago and pre-diabetic prior to my talk with the doctor).

                      I cut almost ALL sugars and carbs except for natural sugars found in low glycemic fruits and low startch veggies. My carb count is up to 50 daily (to compare, a standard baked potato is 65 carbs on its own) and my cholesterol levels leveled out. I drink 64oz water daily and track my consumption. Today I weigh 136.6lbs.

                      I did this as a tribute to my late mother who died almost 20yrs ago at my age now (30yrs). She wasn't diabetic but had cancer and fought tooth and nail to live for her kids but died. I knew my food choices were killing me. I was gonna be overweight and un healthy and I have a son. I have the chance to try and ward off something that could potentially kill me and I was taking my body for granted. I was NOT going to contribute to an early death if I was able to try and work on myself. My mother had cancer and it wasn't avoidable but with diabetes, the kind my obese family members have like its "given" and accept it, was both something I wasnt going to accept.

                      It's a complete lifestyle change for myself but I had a great team of doctors and the wonderful world of the Internet for resources.

                      My advice: don't give up on finding something that works for you. I went to the gm 5x a week, I was watching my calories and still so frustrated. When hopes of an under active thyroid feel thru and I was teetering on the brink of medication for high blood pressure and diabetes BEFORE I was 30 I knew I had to do something.

                      2012 was my year and I did it! Good luck

                        That is fantastic. I'm only 5'2" also and weigh about 176 I lost 20 lbs last year, but then my hubby lost his job and I've been stress eating all over the place. Can you give me your average day of meals?

                        I just started last week a running program. Both of my kids run (14 and 12 yrs old) and I thought I would like to try it. I downloaded a program on my phone that trains you. It's called Couch to 5K. It basically tells you when to run and when to walk. The first week you walk for 90 seconds and then run for 60 seconds, back and forth for 8 intervals. It includes a warm up and cool down walk as well. Total time is 30 minutes. It's chilly up here in Michigan, but I have to say after listening to kids all day, it is such a relaxation technique to be outside where everything is still and quiet and do this for myself. Feels great when the phone programs says "you have completed your run for today, great job". It gives you your calories burned, distance, pace and even shows you a gps map of where you walked/ran. It has a 2 week trial period if anyone is interested. It's good for mind and body

                          I'm not making excuses for you...but, when you mention bloating, it sounds like a medical reason. Water should make you feel good, not bloated. I drink tea and water all day and even at night, and bloating isn't a normal thing.

                          I really encourage you to go back to your doctor and have him check for some things he/she thinks could be the cause.

                          If you can meet with a hormone specialist. (there's one of those in my local drs office, so it's not a huge ordeal to get in there) Maybe she will do some more intensive testing than just the regular tests.

                          Your thyroid might look fine with the normal tests, but other hormones can counteract your thyroid. Thyroid can make you feel bloated and exhausted, and hopeless. I take thyroid medication now, and honestly, I can still remember how crappy and old I felt before it. It was like a dark cloud.

                          Also, the bloating can be caused by so many other things. Female problems, gall bladder, etc.

                            Sure thing on a sampling of my diet!

                            Breakfast:

                            8oz coffee with HEAVY cream (1/4c), 2tbs sugar free vanilla syrup and 2 packets stevia
                            3 pieces of bacon, fried
                            1 whole egg fried in bacon grease
                            3/4 fresh raw spinach.
                            Water

                            Lunch:

                            1/2 cup berries (any type but usually blackberries)
                            Mini meat loaf (90% lean ground beef mixed with egg, heavy cream, almond flour, garlic and parmesean cheese and baked in oven)
                            Fully loaded romaine salad with full fat dressing, tons of veggies, almonds and cheese.
                            Water
                            Powerade0 (for sodium lost from using the bathroom so much due to drinking water plus potassium and magnesium)

                            Dinner:

                            Spaghetti squash
                            Home made Alfredo sauce made with heavy cream, garlic, butter and seal salt and pepper.
                            1cup steamed broccoli
                            Green peppers and celery with hummus.
                            Water

                            Snacks(not all of these in a day but a variation):
                            Beef jerky
                            Cheese "chips" (shredded cheese microwaved on parchment paper for 35sec)
                            Pepperoni "chips" (microwaved pepperoni)
                            Celery and almond butter or laughing cow cheese
                            Heavy whipped cream with unsweetened cocoa powder and stevia or vanilla
                            Berries
                            If I'm low on carbs (even for me) I'll splurge and have a higher carb fruit or piece of dark chocolate.

                            Www.yourlighterside.com is THE BEST SITE EVER for low carb foods. I made broccoli cheese soup last night for dinner from there and get ALL my ideas from her.

                            Cheesecakes
                            "breads"
                            Pizzas
                            Cookies

                            You name it, she has it. Remember though, FIBER FIBER FIBER. 1g fiber helps to negate about 1g carbs. If you eat grape fruit that is 16g carbs but has 4g fiber your bodies net carbs for that fruit is 12g carbs.

                            People think its a MEAT AND BACON EHERMERGHAD diet. It's not just that, you need to have veggies and [some] fruits too. Protein and balance.

                            I use only full fat too. Low fat cream cheese has added sugar, which means added carbs. I'll take full fat and eat a little less cheese cake. I cook with butter and coconut oils only and use olive oil with salads. You notice I consume a lot of heavy cream. It aids in keeping me full and you can make things thicker with it not need flour.

                            Everything can have a substitute. My husband doesn't do my diet and that's fine so I just make the tweaks for me. My 3yr old doesn't know so I just add in my stuff for him if it happens to end up like that and if he'll eat it.

                            I really don't count calories but since I eat hearty (and keep track of my food anyways) I consume anywhere from 1200 calories to 1600/1700.

                            I try to keep myself in ketosis, where I burn the foods ketones and not sugar (hence a drastic weight loss). The less carbs you consume the more your body stays in ketosis and the quicker it burns the fat you don't need.

                            I'll take some cheese and broccoli over an insulin shot any day happyface

                              Also, my cholesterol is back in the normal range! If you do it the right way eating bacon doesn't always have to contribute to clogged arteries and heart attacks. It's if you slather it with syrup and French toast that'll get ya
