This song teaches young children that there are ways to say Merry Christmas in other languages. Sing this one to the tune of "If You're Happy and You Know It."

Can you say Merry Christmas--clap your hands.

Can you say Merry Christmas--clap your hands.

Can you say it in a language,

      like Spanish, like Spanish,

Say Feliz Navidad and clap your hands.

      -----

Can you say Merry Christmas--clap your hands.

Can you say Merry Christmas--clap your hands.

Can you say it in a language

      like French, like French,

Say Joyeux Noel and clap your hands.

      -----

Can you say Merry Christmas--clap your hands.

Can you say Merry Christmas--clap your hands.

Can you say it in a language

      like Greek, like Greek

Say Kala Christougenna and clap your hands.

Sing this song to the traditional tune of "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star." Darken the room and allow the children to hold small flashlights to shine twinkling lights on the ceiling (or onto a Christmas tree in the classroom) while singing this song together.

      Twinkle, twinkle Christmas star

You're so pretty where you are.

Way up on the Christmas tree,

Shining there for all to see.

      Twinkle, twinkle Christmas star

      Bright and shiny, Christmas star.

We used to do a Christmas show every year. These are a few of my favorites that we have done, both songs with toddlers (2-3).

This one is not a song, but a cute poem

        Up in a Chrismas Tree
Way up high in a Christmas Tree (point up)
Two (two on fingers) little candy canes smiled at me (make a smile on face with finger)
I shook that tree ask hard as I could (mimic shaking a tree)
Down came the candy canes (wiggle fingers while moving hands down)
        Mmmm, mmmm, good! (rub stomach)

        I'm a Little Pine Tree
When we have done this one we've made props for the children to wear. Using card board or poster board, a plain, smaller tree on the front of the child; and a bigger, decorated Christmas tree on the back. These are connected by two strings so they can go on over the child's head.

(sung to I'm a Little Teapot)
I'm a little pine tree (crouch down)- as you can see, (stand up and point to eyes)
All the other pine trees are bigger (hand up) than me. (point to self)
Maybe when I grow up (crouch down, then jump up during the line)-then I'll be
(turn around)A great big merry Christmas tree!
