    When You Get Sick?

So for those of you doing in home daycare what do you do when you get sick? Just Curious..

If I am mildly ill, I will let the parents know at drop off then let them decide whether or not they want to leave their children in my care. If I am too sick to take care of kids that day (or contagious) then I close. My parents are required to have backup care for emergencies such as this.

Same. If I'm too sick, parents find alternate care and I give them a free day the following month.

Yup - me too. If I'm too ill to work, I close and credit my clients for the day. They're all responsible to have their own back-ups lined up.
However, being that I don't get paid if I don't work, I've only closed about #6 days in 23 years of daycare - and those times were each a stomach-flu-type thing when caring for children would have been impossible. Most of my illnesses are caught from my daycare kids, and I just work through them.

If I am too sick or flu and I still open no matter what I do. However, if my child/children are in serious sick then I have to closed so they will not charged if I closed.

If I have a cold, I am open. Flu, I try to stay open if my husband can stay home or my mil can come work for the day. If that is impossible, I close and credit the parents a day.
