    Gag...So Over Illness

It's been a non-stop revolving door of illnesses since early October. Now this most recent virus is kicking the butt of everyone who gets it. Fever, the desire to just do nothing but sleep for hours and hours on end, a nasty cough.

And now this morning, a toddler "spat up a little" in the car. Uh huh. Their "spit up" = soaked in vomit, coat, pants, everything but shoes (thank god). And of course, I have no extra clothes. And of course, neither do they. And of course, "I think he ate too much and just coughed."

This is the family I have no backbone with. They have two days left here after today (happyface), and I warned dcp that if he pukes again he'll have to go home. He's in DS's clothes while his stuff is in the washer and dryer (I have no choice...he's got to have a coat and with two days left he ain't goin' home is DS's stuff). I'm not angry...mostly just resigned and over everyone being sick all the time.

I got very little sleep last night and I'm still recovering from that nasty virus I had for my whole 4-day weekend. If it weren't for the toddlers, I'd stick everyone on the couch and spend all day sanitizing every single toy in the house...and cleaning carpets and washing every single conceivable surface, etc, etc.

sounds like someone is brining it in, you need to find out who it is (but it sounds like this kid) I found that once I got the kid who constantly brought in illness was gone, everyone was healthy. Over santitizing isn't good either. Open some windows every day and good hand washing. I also shampoo the rugs

      I feel your pain!!!

Everyone here has been "mildly" ill since early October. No fevers (that i am aware of ) slightly runny noses and MAJOR NASTY COUGHS!!!

Every single DCK has acted "normal" so I can't exclude

It has been AWFUL!!! Today one DCP said to her child- ugh if your nose doesn't get better by Friday, we will need to go to the doctor. I thought why- the poor kid has been this way for almost 4 weeks now and the child's nose isn't the problem- its the barky cough that even my DH comments on. But DCM assured me this is something DCK gets a couple times a year and its nothing.

Well today I feel HORRIBLE! My DD feels horrible too.

It's days like these that I wish I had vacation time that I could use to stay curled up in my bed, but we all know this business is pretty demanding and closing is not an option unless its one scheduled ahead of time or two you are puking your guts out (and even then we manage to stay open).

I would've done the same thing as you did with the "spit-up". Wish I had a stronger backbone, with all of my families.

      Hope your day gets better.

No, it's not one family, it's been a large variety of illnesses and sources. We've *never* had a series of illnesses like this, not once. Everything we've dealt with on a large scale has been stuff I happen to see other people locally/on Facebook/etc dealing with, too, so it's all stuff going around.

Over sanitizing is *not* an issue around here :P In fact, the fact that I don't do much of it is why I think I'm going to. I feel overdue for it. They've all been hacking and sneezing on things, and It just seems like it's time to go around washing stuff. I don't bleach, but I'll be using diluted vinegar or warm, soapy water. Haven't decided yet.

I can't believe they would bring him in after he threw up...I'm pretty strict about parents keeping sick kids home. Otherwise it just becomes a never ending cycle of sick kids getting me sick, then I get my family sick, and then as soon as we're well it starts all over!

I think it is the constantly changing weather. Around here it is 70 one day and 45 the next and rainy! It is usually 40 consistently this time of year...not this year! I have been spraying down with the Clorox hard surface cleaner the kid's bathroom each night & the door the dcf's enter through since we had the stomach flu last week! Hope all is well soon!

I love the...he/she ate too much and spit up...

I'd send the child home (or would have refused him), they don't cover themselves with vomit from over eating!? Just not having any clothes would have been enough for me to turn them away.

I'm with you. I am soooooooo tired of everyone getting sick. Sept was strept throat, Oct was a stomach virus, Nov is bad colds w/ sinus infections and ear infections.

I've tried over sanitizing and under sanitizing. I've had everyone use hand sanitizer when they walk in the door and again when they walk out. Nothing has made a difference.

I have one child that seems to start it, but never really gets sick. Everyone else gets hit much harder.

it doesn't have to be a daycare kid either.

Yesterday we went to the library. There was a girl (about 8) who hacked and coughed all over the books over and over again and then all over the computers. I did not hear her mom once tell her to cover her mouth. Oh she was wearing a dress, no hat and they were walking home which was a distance from the library. No wonder she is sick and so is everyone else. (at night its dropping down to the 20's and 30's)

Same here! I had one dcb last year who was the carrier of every bacteria and virus in town, combined with the most clueless parents in the world who were in denial about his illnesses. The last straw was when I talked to one of the other moms who called me and said her son was out ill due to a stomach virus (caught from other dcb), and he was screaming out in pain from it. Once I termed the culprit, no one was sick for months. It has been a year since he has been gone and all I have had is a few minor colds amongst the kiddos.
