I got an email today from a family that is looking for a nanny for their 7 year old daughter. (They gave me a local phone number and other indicators that it wasn't a scam.) I told them that I do childcare in my home only and couldn't help them. I just wanted to post here because I found it sad - they are looking for someone to come in the morning and put their child on the school bus, pick her up in the afternoon, help her with homework, straighten the house, cook and feed her dinner, and put her to bed. I understand that it's a hard economic time right now, and that families can't help it if both parents have to work...but these people will only get time with their daughter for a few minutes in the morning and possibly a few minutes at night. I just feel bad for this child.

Yeah, that is sad. At least the girl will be in her own home though.
But it's not too far from some of my clients that wake their children up in the mornings just to pop them into their carseats to bring them to daycare, and then pick them up at closing time, just to put them to bed 2 hours later....and repeat...all week!- Flag
