I'm thinking about getting one, just so there's somewhere to put the babies where I know they are safe. When I go potty, take someone potty, or change at toddler etc... thoughts ideas??
I don't know if I would call it a necessity but I do love my Superyards. (I have 3! My husband picked up a couple of them at yard sales for cheap.) I use one outside; it surrounds my lilac bush so the kids don't get their eyes poked out when they run in the play area. I have another that I use for babies who can sit and play by themselves when I'm busy making meals or doing crafts with the older kids. I have a third that I use to block my diapering area if I have a "diaper swiper". If I'm not using it to block the diapering area, I can also use it stretched out to separate play areas if the younger kids are bothering the older kids when they're trying to build with blocks, etc.
Definitely not a necessity, but I can see how one could come in handy. A playpen would work just as well for potty breaks, otherwise, my dcks all know how to/how not to behave around the babies.
I agree you don't have to have one but it is nice. I have a big one and can put 3 babies in it. It is nice when I am doing a project with the older kids or cooking lunch etc.
I use mine all the time. I've even taken one to the beach to make a baby area. They're very handy even if you just use the sections to gate off large openings and things like breakables or Christmas trees.
They are very versatile. Right now one of mine is in a --well, octagon-- and full of ball pit balls for the big kids to play in. They've been LOVING it! They can climb in and out on their own and have a blast.
Tonight/tomorrow I'm going to combine both my superyards into one big area and put the trains in it for teh big kids to build big tracks without the toddlers pulling it apart.
When we get our tree, one superyard will cordon off the tree from my darling and rambunctious toddler son.
You can take one outside and put it in the yard to contain babes to a safe spot in the yard. Or put it across the bottom of the driveway to catch runaway balls...
