    Flexible Spending?

I was just asked if my pay system accepts flexible spending. It is through ChildCarePay.com (MMK), so I'm assuming no? But, am I wrong?

I always thought flexible spending was something parents did with their paychecks.

For example, "guesstimate" how much they will spend for the year on child care, and that amount is taken out of their checks BEFORE being taxed and placed in an account somewhere. To get access to that funding the parent submits receipts from paying child care expenses to that account and they are reimbursed the money.

I think some parents actually request the money before paying it to the provider themselves and then when they get the money from that account, they pay it to the porivder.

I guess I am not sure of other ways it works as those two methods are the only experiences I have had with flexible spending.

(I think some people can use flexible spending accounts for medical stuff to but since that doesn't pertain to daycare or me, I don't know for sure.)

That's what I thought. I have one parent that does this (I sign off on paperwork each month and she is reimbursed), but it didn't require anything different for payment.

Same here - I don't do anything different on my end.

I think you're talking about Flex Pay right?

And yes, like the others said there's nothing different on your end. The parent sets up their flex play through their work if their job offers it and they pay into an account. Then they pay their daycare fees and submit their receipt to whoever handles the flex pay accounts. Sometimes that HR and sometimes the receipt has to be submitted (mailed) directly to the flex pay company. Then they in turn reimburse the parent and mail them a check. Nothing new on your end to do.

Yes! It seems she is looking into it but doesn't quite know how it works.
