    Does It Bother You?

Does it bother you how many strangers know your adress???

After all the interviews that didn't turn into signed clients, all the no shows over the year, etc. It makes me uncomfortable thinking about how many people know my adress and that I'm a daycare with little kids etc.

I try not to give my adress until necessary, but like I said even then all the people who are told where I live or come for an interview don't always end up as relationships that I come to know.

    Does this bother anyone else?

Not me, this redneck girls house would be the wrong one to break into. Since our recent security upgrades( keypad entry, driveway alarm etc. and a nice shiny permit to carry plus an early santa gift from hubby that I keep in a fingerprint safe. I'm gooooooood.

        No, not at all actually.

My address is in google, too, if you type in "daycare" or "preschool" in my area.

it crosses my mind from time to time...but doesn't really bother me.

I do mention in almost every interview that my husband's schedule is unpredictable, though...
Hee hee! Look, I have a signature!

            Same here.

My husband is home all different hours of the day/day of the week and we have neighbors who are home all day which helps. There are many objects throughout our home that could easily be used as weapons. I have a phone on me almost all the time. My husband and I also "train" through different scenerios likes break-ins, kidnapping, rape threats, etc.
I'd rather just be as prepared as possible in the event of an emergency than dwell on something potentially bad happening.

I suppose it depends on where you live. My community is not such a huge one that neighbors don't know one another and someone who doesn't necessarily belong in my neighborhood would be out of place immediately.

My web-site, business cards and internet listing all have my address on it.

Heck, I am lucky if I remember to lock the door every night when I leave work.

Same here, my husband works from home too so he's usually here. I do not answer the door for solicitors though, they still knock even though we have a sign that says no soliciting.

Mine too. You wouldn't believe the amount of calls that I get from publicizing my address on Google Businesses. It's basic listing is free and whenever anyone googles "daycare" in my area my daycare pops up on the first page. The benefits are greater to me than the negative aspects. The fact that I do daycare I think lowers my chances of having a home break-in because if anything people will know that there is someone home all day. Burglers are more likely to break into a house that has noone home since it makes for an easier target. Why rob a home that has a greater risk of hurting or even killing someone, endanguring children etc. when you can go for a home that has two working adults and the house is empty and easy pickings. Not saying it doesn't happen, just saying it lowers your chances.

There are lots of us here on the forum that also put out lawn signs and such when we have openings or even keep them out all year long. People simply driving by see these signs everyday and that doesn't bother me. If anything I want as many people as I can to know that I do daycare.

My thoughts exactly. My house is definitely the wrong house to try and mess around with

No, it really doesn't. I rarely give the parents my home phone number, though.
