What protocol do you follow when these happen, as far as disinfecting? I woke up at 2 am & from that point on it was not pretty until after 3 pm. Lucky dh was off today to take over for me! I quarenteened myself in the bedroom & noone else used our big bathroom. I have since cleaned remotes, phones, door handles, toilet again, light switches , & any toys i picked up are waiting to go in the dishwasher. Am i missing anything? i pray none of my kids or dh gets it. I have never felt so sick!

Arghhh!! I know what it feels like. The first year I was in business I got the stomach bug 4x. It looks as though you seem to be taking all the correct precautions. I would just make sure to wash all sheets and any towels that were used in hot water. You are prob still contagious, so just make sure you aren't sharing anything (cups/plates etc) and I would still be very cautious with hugging on the kids .- Flag

We just had 4 children get it last week all on the same day!
We cleaned and then sanitized everything.- Flag

It went through us the last week in Oct. I spent a whole day in bed, never once went downstairs and had to take the next day off. It ended up hitting 16 people in 5 families before it stopped.
I wiped down every single thing in my house that got touched. I bleached everything that didn't move. It's a good thing the cat ran because I was going to spray her next.
I used the Clorox wipes and wiped all light switches, door knobs, hand rails, doorbell, remotes, phones (including all cells phones), computer mice and keyboards, kindles, drawer knobs. I sprayed the pack and plays with Lysol and set them outside to air out a bit.
I hope it stops with you.- Flag

If you have norovirus (which is most likely what it is), you should disinfect with something containing chlorine. Lysol's primary disinfectant is ammonia based, which is NOT effective against norovirus. Another thing to note is that when you vomit, the virus actually becomes aerosolized (I know .... it's gross!) so you will have droplets of infected vomit dispersed throughout your bathroom.
The best prevention is excluding yourself for 24 hours after your symptoms are gone, but I understand that can be difficult in our profession. The other thing to do is clean because the virus can live on surfaces for up to 2 weeks. Besides cleaning the bathroom, you should disinfect (with chlorine) all surfaces your hands come into contact with and thoroughly clean your hands after using the restroom and before handling anything the children might put in their mouths.- Flag
