Help with Pinterest

Do you have to have facebook to be able to pin things?

Facebook is bound and determined to get me to sign up-

I want to be able to do something without having to have facebook-

I don't think so. When I signed up it took some doing because I didn't want my facebook linked to it. I think in small print below the giant "sign in/up using facebook" there was an option to join with your email address.

Mine is somehow linked to my facebook now though, I don't remember approving it but facebook loves to give your info out so maybe it just automatically added it? I don't think its a requirement for pinterest though, or at least it wasn't when i started mine

It wasn't required when I signed up either, and I've never linked my Facebook account to it. I just use my email address. Under the large Facebook and Twitter buttons, it says sign up using email address. You can do it that way.
