    Wednesdays Used To Be Fun

I use to love Wednesdays but not so much anymore. Our schools have an early day each Wed. and all the kids get home early.

Well 2 of mine get here about 1 hour after nap and just want to chill for a bit. They can't though because now have had to take over the livingroom/hallway/backroom for kids. I have tried to spread the non-nappers out so they won't keep the nappers up. In doing this I have had to use the livingroom and my kids can't sit in there to watch tv now.

We don't have anywhere else for them to just hangout. The older mine get the more frustrated the get with my job. They get the whole, if I worked outside the home, but they feel theres no room in our house for just them to relax.

Do any of you have older kids that get out of school early and what do they do for the day?

we converted our garage into a "game room/man cave" So now they can go there to do what ever they need.

It used to be that way and I felt horrible that I took their home from them, so now that is where they go.

we even have a fridge and microwave out there so they can eat snack out there.

    two heaters too...

they don't come in the front door anymore, only the side door

I so wish we could do that but we use the garage more for storage and can somedays can barely walk through it!

The schoolroom is the family room of the house so sometimes thats why I feel bad. The place the family is to hang out is over run with a preschool!

I went out and got a storage unit...yes it is a little pricey but it was that or the constant complaining of my children about how I took over the entire house and now they have no where to go.

The storage is really close to my house so it works out ok. I also built a storage shed on my property so those things that I need often I don't have to keep going to the storage unit for them.

Hang in there, hopefully you can figure something out

I finished our basement and moved or family room down there, as well as a play area that is JUST for my kids (and needs work, honestly, my poor kids don't have a nice playroom like my preschool room) If you can't do that, can you put a futon and a tv/coffee table in a bedroom with some extra space? Toys only for them? Board games, crafts on the table only for them, etc? That way they get a small living room type set up without any daycare kiddos around?

I wish- There are 6 of us in a very small 3 bedroom house=1300 sq. ft.

We just tried for a 5 bedroom, 2 bath, 3 livingroom option-sadly we didn't get it again! This was the 2nd time we tried for it.

OMG I feel your pain! They do the same thing here too..it completely throws off your entire schedule to have the kids that extra hour every wednesday.
It is hard. I normally have them play outside until snack time if it is nice and if not I have them watch a movie or do quiet reading until snack time...it usually works out okay but I find the time so long.

I currently just have two kindies....but I have had 4 SA kids at a time up to age 13! They came in on early days and LOVED to curl up and take a nap too!

In fact my rule is EVERYONE naps. No nap means no care. The SA kids grew up at my place, so they didn't mind naps at all. Actually they liked it. School can be tiring and when they got dropped off here at the crack of dawn, a cat nap is a good thing.
