If the payment is due by 5:30 PM on Monday, then at 5:31 PM a late fee accrues. Then at 5:31 on Tuesday, another late fee. 5:31 on Wednesday, another late fee, etc.

This is how I do it too.

I close at 6PM on Friday and payment is due by then. If it's not in my hand at 6:01PM...I add $10. I add $10 every day at 6:01PM until it's paid. And they don't set foot in the door until it's paid in full.

mine is also 6pm.. I am off done for the week and will not be bothered by anyone once my DC is closed.

I have steep late fees and have charged them many of times. I had to make it steep, because my parents were not phased by a simple $10.00 late fee.

Here is my late fee schedule.

Payments must be paid in full when due no later than 6:00pm. Payments are not accepted on weekends and late fees will continue to accumulate until paid in full. Your child cannot return to care until all outstanding fees are paid in full.
