Has Anyone Heard Of HFM In Teenagers?

A parent was telling me today that the dr.'s in our area are seeing some different strain of HFM and its actually affecting teenagers.

This is totally not what I'm needing!

One of my friend's husband got it and he is 37!

So I dont think its unheard of, just rare for adults to get it I guess!

Its probably just a strain they didn't get as babies.

I got Fifths Disease my second year doing daycare. Apparently i never had taht particular rash as a kid. That ****s as an adult, BTW.

I have never ever had any of these childhood diseases myself.

I haven't had chicken pox, HFM, 5th disease, mumps, etc.

It scares me sometimes to think of getting it at my age-

We have had two bouts come through the daycare in the pat two years. The first time, a DCM came down with a strain And spiked a 105 fever one night. We didn't realize until she had been hospitalized that it was a strain of HFM.

Last May, it went through the daycare and I got it. I ran a 103 fever for a day, and had a few spots in my mouth.

Supposedly it is much easier to have (actual HFM - not the crazy strain) when you are older ( I am 24, so not that much older than a teen). Not sure how bad it would be for teens.

Both of my kids got it when it went through my day care earlier this year. They're 21 and 18.

My husband got it this past spring when my dc siblings brought it into my house.

My daughter also got it, they where both miserable for 3 or 4 days. Thankfully I didn't get it, neither did my then baby dck (mom and dad came and got her as soon as I had an official diagnosis, and kept her home for a full week).

                    So not fun.
