    ADD or Just Busy

    As everyone knows I have a group that consists of pretty much non nappers.

    Watching these kids through the day has made me start wondering-how do you know if a child is ADD (should be brought to parents attention) or just busy.

    Some of them just seem jittery and restless no matter what kind of activity we do. There is no exhaustion level at naptime or even tired level. Alot of these kids are up at 6:00 and going to bed at 8:00-8:30. Eat healthy, routines in the evenings and on board parenting. Alot of the parents think they have outgrown naps but I really wonder if there is something else going on.

    Right now I have 2 out of 6 asleep and we are 45 min into naptime. Its actually quiet though, most of the time I will have most of them talking through the entire, entire naptime and not let up.

    So how do you know to be concerned or not?

      Higher 3/4/and a 5 year old. The five year old collapeses every day with no problem.

      Alot of them have actually rested today but I have a couple that have not quit moving the entire naptime. Books, quiet activities, nothing. They have not quit moving since they arrived this morning at 7;00.

        I do not think any dr would evaluate for ADHD just because a child does not nap. And really even if they are ADHD little is done until school when it effects learning because they can not sit in their desk UNLESS it is a child that is climbing on the roof and other off the wall behaviors.

        My ds is ADD and always was a great napper. still is at 34
        It:: will wait

          I think they have outgrown their naps. Some kids are just like this. I was lucky and my own kids napped till they were 4. Now I have a 3 yr old girl who doesn't nap. this is because the parents did this too her. On the weekends they weren't putting her down for a nap (or when she wasn't here) they were making her go to bed really early and they kept telling her that she doesn't need a nap.

          at those ages I expect them to be busy, if they weren't then I would be worried. I have dumpers right now.
