My Big Mouth Once Again....

I feel bad and I don't know what to do to smooth things over. Long story short: I have been feeling a little resentful of one pt family. I really like the 2 dcb that come but they are taking up two full time slots and only coming in the afternoons. This is not the dcf fault. I could have said no. I could have asked them to pay full time (I know that I wouldn't have got them though). However, I know this is my fault for signing them....part time isn't the only issue. Also, I have to ask dcm for pmnt every week and a few weeks ago she advised that she will probably not be needing me soon because her family will be able to watch dcb's, but of coarse she will give me my two weeks notice. Hmm...okay?
Today dcm calls and asks if I can keep dcb's full time this week only...and I blurt out that this will be great because they are taking up two full time slots and I cannot fill my morning slots. Ugggh....why did I say that? It's not her fault. I hope she doesn't think about what I said and be offended. How can I smooth this over or should I just not mention it again.

I wouldn't worry about it. Unless your tone was particularly cutting/resentful, the words here aren't offensive at all. It's just a fact and actually you were expressing a positive reaction to her request for extra services.

Anyhow, I'd start looking for two fulltimers to fill these spaces whether or not they leave on their own terms... you're losing income and you're resentful about it. Time to make a business change.

I wouldn't worry about it for one sec. They are taking those spots. I would also begin looking for replacements and term her when you find them. but be nice about it of course!

Like Muffet said, I would begin looking for replacements. Mom said they would be leaving anyways, so if you find a child or two ready for full time care prior to the time she is ready to leave just give her 2 weeks notice.
