    Crying Baby Help

I have a new child 3 mnths old started last week. Cries all day unless being held. How long will this take to break. My 2 yrs olds are walking around with fingers in their ears. Any help would be great?

I was a new mother and put my son in daycare and was almost termed because all my son did was cry unless held. It was a shock to me so that night and the next I had to lay him on the floor and let him cry it out til he was calm. It took like 2-3 nights of this to be able to be ok at daycare. It was extremely hard to do but it was worth it to keep him at his daycare.

I think you will have to talk to the parents about it and they need to make some duras tic changes at home to be able to change at daycare.

This can be a hard one.

Is the baby full time or part time? This can make a difference in how long it may take.

I agree with what the previous poster said about how she had to work on it at home. You need to talk to your DCPs about putting the child down to play and even with naps if needed. I has a DCG start at 4 months and all she did was cry, but she was held 24/7 at home and mom nursed her to sleep at night and for naps so she had never had to play alone (by alone i mean not being constantly entertained, i was always nearby) or go to sleep on her own. I had to talk with DCPs about putting her down for naps awake and also getting her on a routine for drop offs (some days she came starving, others having just ate, sometimes she was overtired and others had just woke up). With my DCG it took about 2-2 1/2 months before she adjusted, but she was also part time (3-4 days a week, not always consecutive days either), I was about to term when she finally adjusted thankfully.

He is full time so I am hope that will help. I have been letting him cry it out a bit I think I will just start rotating his activites every 15 min or so and see if that helps also. Thanks for the help

I have the napping and eating routine down. The crying is because he wants to be held as soon as I pick him up the crying stops and when he feels me motion to put him down the crying starts.

if he is eating well and getting enough sleep then yes, I would start rotating his activities and he will have to transition off constant motion/rocking/holding. he needs tummy time anyway and the reality of daycare is that he isnt going to get undivided attention all the time. i hope he chills out with plenty of floor time but some kids are a lot tougher than others.

yeah, my 4mo dcg just started out. Picking her up is like a magic pill...

Makes me think of the Wayan's brother clown.."Yeah...Homie don't play dat..." for some reason.
