So my resource and referral dept lady came to check me today . I had one sitting in time out at the moment she came .. Then we played with play doh, had snack and played with blocks.. As I washe hands the little boy went to my kitchen and started messing with my drawers and grabbed a screw driver and started running with it in front f the woman. I took it away. The drawer it was in was baby proofed so idk how he got it... Anyway today is such a horrible day I just wanna cry I'm sick of the crying and tantrums

Why did they come? Do you have to let her in? County inspections cause enough anxiety as it is, I'm not sure I'd be welcome to inviting others in to scrutinize in the same way!!!!

You know, I'm not sure if it's the same thing but we have a group here by a similar name and when I got re-licensed they were chomping at the bit to get into my home. I told them I'd be happy to get any mailings with trainings available but other than that I wasn't interested in their in home visit type services. At one point I was getting calls several times a week about them coming over and I always politely declined much to their dismay. This one lady though was a super persistent bugger who went so far as to leave me a message after hours and tell me she was inviting herself over the next morning to go over trainings, information and help she was sure I needed. I called her up as soon as I heard the message (that morning) and told her thanks but no thanks, I was busy with a full house. She TOLD me she was about 20 minutes away and was just going to swing in, would only take an hour or so. Ummm......again, thanks, but no thanks. I don't have strangers in my home during daycare hours. Then she huffed and puffed about how I should have gotten a hold of her earlier. It was like 8:30 that morning and she called me the night before around 8pm. I apologized and told her I needed to go. Once again she TOLD me she'd be here shortly, at which point I told her I wouldn't be answering the door and she could pull me off their mailing list as I didn't appreciate how pushy and demanding she'd been with no care for the fact that I was concerned about a distraction of that length affecting my ability to properly tend to the children in my care.

She went off the fricken rails.....

Called me snotty, rude, anti-social, ungrateful and went on and on about how I was some sort of arrogant hermit who was too good to accept help I obviously needed....I responded with a "ok then" and laughed more out of holy sheep did that really just happen nervousness than anything, to which she concluded that I needed anger management, perhaps I'd be open to getting some mailings about that, and then hung up the phone on me

I called up my licensor, asked if their services were necessary or required and explained what happened. She was in shock and told me to call their head office or some junk. I was so upset I nearly got sick about it so I didn't but my licensor must have as someone from there called me shortly after apologizing profusely and wanting to talk to me about what happened.

I called them back, told them, they apologized loads more and I told them I wanted off their mailing list. If anyone ever showed up I'd be calling the police because their rep was obviously a nut job. Quite honestly I sat the rest of that day with watchful eye on my driveway waiting to see her come up and finish her freakout in my direct presence. She assured me that would be the right thing to do if the freak show did show up and promised they'd make sure not to bother me again.

I now get mailings from a different CCR&R office but I'm pretty sure I will NEVER be open to dealing with them again.

Sorry for the birdwalk.....when I saw Resource and Referral that took me right back.......

I had a glass (or three) of wine that night to calm my still frazzled nerves OP. Perhaps that's what's in order for your Friday night? We all have moments like that, sometimes unfortunately they happen at the most inopportune times!!!!!

We have suprise inspections from our CR&R every once in awhile. The actually bring the Dept. of Educatio with them-

I was in trouble one time because they showed up and I had no kids. Everyone, I mean everyone was running late that day and I was given the riot act of how it shows I am to have children in care at that time and on and on and on. It couldn't get over fast enough!

Wait maybe it was the food program- HHHMMM, anyway all I know is why was I being given the third degree for late parents!

It seems like she was there for a while. Why? In my area CCRR sets up an appointment a few months before our registration renewal to go over everything. I was always under the assumption that we had to do it until I found out otherwise. When they would come over they would just go through the same checklist that DHS would go over in a surprise inspection, the same checklist I would go over with myself upon re-registering. Pointless really but it helps the nice ladies keep their jobs and I'm sure some providers really need the help they provide.
Their visit actually helped me this year. I let them come and we went through the checklist and everything was great. DHS came a month later and cited me for some things because I was remodeling the daycare area and hadn't put tools away, had signs that weren't posted because of painting, etc. Usually I did put everything away and put stuff back in place but it was summer and we spent all day, every day outside so I left it out knowing we weren't going to be using the space. Of course my surprise visit came the week I decided to leave things out and not put things back to save time. It helped that DHS could see I had just had a visit and nothing was amiss.
I welcome it because they have been so helpful to me but also because it is a scheduled appointment, I hate surprise visits. I understand the necessity butit doesn't make me like them any more.

Food program would make sense. I'm supposed to report if I'm ever closed or have no kids during open hours in case a rep were to swing over.

But they've never brought the Dept. of Education with them

They came at like 15 minutes after I opened. I would have had no way of even contacting them!

I still cant remember why the Dept. of Education came either but its not unheard of because I remember just this year talking to providers and them saying that the DOE has showed up with the food program.
