    Nap Mat and Cot Questions

I live in MI and am going through the process of doing the paper work and set up of my in home daycare. I am wondering what to use for nap time. The licensing rule states that all bedding and equipment shall be in accordance with U.S. CPSC standards as approved for the age of the child using the equipment...etc.
I have some gymnastic mats that I was going to make into nap mats and am wondering if this is ok to do. Also, do you prefer mats or cots, or porta cribs and what do you use? I've seen some people use porta cribs for children 2 and under, others use mats or cots only (for children 1 and over). Just trying to get ideas!
