How Long To Gave A Child To Settle In?

New daycare boy 12 Months today is day 6. He has always been breatfeed and still breastfeed.
He does not take a bottle or soother.
I have now got him eating solids.
He cries from the time he comes in the morning until his mom pick him up in the evening.
He will not sleep all day, so through out nap time he screams.
I have tried dark room, rocking nothing is working.
He will stop crying if he is been held.

How long should I gave hiim to settle in and start sleeping! Any advice on nap time?

He has lost his voice. How long is too long to cry?

I give kids 2-3 weeks.

most kids 2 weeks on the second Monday it gets worse . Then improves

If a child is part time it will take much longer. and if never been in childcare, it could be longer. Ask parent again if the child has any soothers at home. blanket, stuffed animal, music, white noise, pacifier , bottle, routine.

something has got to help. also has mom brought in a blanket or shirt with her smell on it yet.

I give a month tops. In this case, I would only give 2 weeks because the child screams all day long, won't nap or take fluids... that's just too many issues for me to handle for an entire month while trying to manage 5 other children.

I only take BF kids who use a bottle consistantly (I make mom show me on several different occasions to prove that the child can/does take the bottle).

I usually have my kids on a good nap routine a few days in. Dark, quiet room, CIO method, no rocking or holding. The really tough ones can take up to 2 weeks.

No soôthers, we have mom shirt, blankets everything from the crib

Yes he is eating and drinking water only in a cup.

Does this child take a breast milk bottle at home? Have you witnessed it?

You might have to tell mom that she's going to have to get this kid off the boob before he will settle into daycare...

He takes cold milk in the cup with a straw but no breast milk. He does not drink much maybe two ounces.

He will not take the bottle

I think he is just going thru separation aniexty from mom makes he is not sleeping and crying all day

Well this is good news. I think it's great that he's already drinking COLD milk from a cup w/ straw... I usually have to do that transition at 12 months because parents won't. Two oz is fine right now if he's also drinking water and taking in solid food.

I would give this kid some more time to adjust to the change in environment. I can handle crying all day during a transition - I can't handle it if they are also not sleeing AND not eating or drinking.
