    Another Breakfast of Champions...

I know this topic has been discussed over and over, and it's like beating a dead horse.

But really.... how difficult is it to provide your own child with a decent breakfast in the morning, especially if you bring them at 8:30?

Today dcb showed up with 4 chocolate covered pretzles for breakfast. He had been provided nothing to drink all morning.

Of course, is he complaining of being hungry before morning snack, who wouldn't be?!?

I would actually probably say something like "If you want Johnny to have a well-balanced healthy breakfast instead of that junk, bring him by 8am and I'll feed him."

I have a DCD who thinks he's the world's greatest dad because he give his kiddo milk and cookies for breakfast.

I truly understand what you are talking about.I have a 3 year old dcb who comes every morning with 4 spudnuts and a 20oz coke and it burns me up, because I have told her that I serve breakfast here. Another thing is because he doesn't need all that sugar, and thirdly is that he is every bit of 50+ pounds. On top of that she has the nerve to carry him in....hmph sorry for the rant

don't you ever wonder why so many kids are obese and have issues. Think about it, its easier to feed your child junk food then healthy. Another reason (heard it yesterday on the radio) is that restaurants that serve "child size portions" tend to make the portions really big so its a contributing factor to obesity. So the dr. said that inorder to prevent obesity "stop feeding your kids take out food" I just about died laughing.

You should have a "no outside food allowed". You post when meals are served and if you come late then you wait 2 hours until the next snack or meal. That is how it works here and I LOVE it. I've only had to mention in one newsletter about food in the morning because kids eat in the car and would grab a handful of stuff to bring in and try to finish eating as they walked in the door and it became annoying after a few times. Never happened again since the reminder was in the newsletter.

I've never had a real problem with kids coming with unhealthy foods and my parents have been pretty good with giving them healthier foods for breakfast if they eat at home, but get this...
The morning after Halloween I had 2 siblings come in at 7am. Each had a lipop in one hand and a marshmallow treat in the other eating them like wild animals. I told mom that her children had to keep candy in their cubbies until pick up time..no candy here and listed off the several reasons as to why.
Mom asks me for cling wrap so she could wrap up the tiny amount of lipop left to keep it until p/u time (i sighed and finally gave her something to wrap it up) both kids are beside themselves at this point, throwing themselves on the floor, kicking, etc.

So mom finally somewhat calms kids down and goes to send them into the playroom...at that point she reached into her pockets and pulled out two handfuls of random halloween treats and put it in the kids pockets!!!! My mouth hit the floor!! Mom said, "there you guys go...now you can snack on the candy through the day"

I lost my mind (and I normally lack a back bone BIG TIME) but I went to the kids, took the candy out of their pockets and chucked it in my garbage. The kids went nuts all over again! and mom was angry that I was so extreme. I said, "you obviously didn't understand me the first time I said no candy in my home so maybe now you will get my point...have a nice day" LOL

                SOME PEOPLE!!!!!
