What Do You Make Of This?

Get a response to my CL ad, someone needing daycare. She sets up a time to interview with me. Emails to reschedule says her older son was in the ER but not as bad as it sounds. We move interview to the next day. She comes, does not bring child with her. We do the normal interview routine. We set up a time for Monday at 10am that she is going to come back again, this time with her son to meet him and see how he does with the group and for her to see how daycare runs with kids.

Monday came and went and she never showed up. I never got any email or anything about canceling, rescheduling, sorry, or response to my email asking her what happened.

Why do people waste time coming to interview if they don't want it? Why set up a time to come back if you don't mean it? Why not cancel or apologize or say you changed your mind? Why ignore my email?

Did you by chance give her a copy of your contracts and policies? She could have been a person looking for info. to start her own daycare.

Yes. I gave her contract and emailed her policies.

Maybe she found someone else in the meantime? There are a lot of people around here who don't call back. I've been amazed in the last few weeks that I have actually gotten people who called/emailed to cancel interviews and to say they chose someone else. It's been incredible...but it's not the norm, in my experience.
Hee hee! Look, I have a signature!

I had someone do that to me last week. She was all set to come over for an interview and asked what she needed to bring. I said just your self and your daughter. If you decide to go with me I will have you fill out paperwork and on the first day I would need list of supplies.... Then I asked what kind of care she needed and she never got back to me. I have a feeling that she was a very young mother and only needed care for 1 day at that time. And that one day I couldn't take her because I was in training.

Oh well I keep a email list of everyone who has stood me up and/or not interested and for what reason.

Could be anything, really - but it sounds to me like she was fishing for paperwork/info to start her own DC.

Consider it a blessing in disquise. You are finding out now that she is rude and inconsiderate rather than later!
