Got A New Child.. Expectantly At That..

I just received a phone call from one of the church members daughter in law. Last week she had a job interview and Needed a someone to keep her son for a few hours.. I am the only one they know.

Well this evening, she called and asked if I could watch him she starts a new job tomorrow! I talked a little with her and told her what I expected in pay and what not.. so.. I start tomorrow.. Hopefully it goes well..

Being the pastor's wife sometimes is a little difficult when watching kids form the church, but I am praying this goes well..

UP TO TWO... AND A FEW MORE TO FILL! YEA!!!

I hope it works out for you. You being a pastors wife and working with parents in your congregation makes me VERY nervous....not going to lie. I hope you at least have your policies in writing? I am very worried that people will take advantage of you because they feel entitled (as your family is in ministry) and because I am sure that you are someone that is used to putting other people first (which isnt always the best for business relationships). I will be thinking about you.

I have all my policies in writing and I do give them a copy. I have told them this is my business. While I think of caring for kids, a ministry, I still need to make money to feed my family! I have made this very clear!...

You do need to be careful as a pastor's wife and doing child care. You need to decide right away if this is strictly "business" or if it's part of your families ministry.
I speak from experience I've been doing childcare for over 22 years. My husband has been a pastor for the last 12.
I (we) have decided that although I'm doing child care as a way to make money, it's also a gift that God has given and we will use it that way too. I usually have 1-2 famililes that pay little (at times even nothing) for their children to come here. The others pay the regular price. The families that get discounted spots are families that I KNOW need the help. So far they all have started paying regular rate once their circumstances changed, without me even asking. That's how much they love and appreciate the fact that they were blessed by their break in tuition. I have only had one family take advantage of me-and that was 20 years ago. (They're family and taking advantage of people is still what they do)
I'm not sure if being the pastor's wife makes them not feel ok taking advantage or what. It's just never been a problem-and I am the world's biggest people pleaser/doormat
The wonderful thing is that I'm NEVER short of kids. If I have a spot I can fill it right away. If you do a great job with the kids your reputation in the congregation will be all you need to fill spotshappyface
I'm jealous that your husband will be able to help you! Mine is hardly ever around between hospital visits, office hours, meetings, writing sermons, continuing education..."just pastor" doesn't seem to fit his life!::
that will be super nice for you!
Praying for the best for you!
