    Leaving a coat at childcare

How do you guys do the whole leave a coat at childcare? Do they wear a coat and then use the one they leave there to play outside?

I don't have room really for two coats but they are getting pretty soaked/dirty when we are outside so I'm trying to figure out if I want to try and have two coats here or just send the wet/dirty one home every day.

All of mine have a coat here (including the part-timers that come to 2 day Preschool).

If you think that system would work for you, go for it! They are free to wear their coat here that is in their cubby at the top (that stays) or to wear the coat they came to school in. Either/or. It doesn't matter to me so long as the coat that is meant to stay here stays here at the end of the day. We don't get wet or muddy, though.

I definitely have a coat here in addition to what they come with. The main reason is because there have been several times that parents forget jackets. I really don't care how the kids are dressed when they are not in my care, but I always make sure they are dressed appropriately while here. The second reason is because their coats frequently get soiled (we play rough outside), so I like to have the back-up for when we go out in the afternoon.

This is us outside-running, tumbling, sliding and its very wet and muddy outside. I don't want them to ruin their good coats but we need something when we go outside.

Newsletters going out tonight so I'll put something in about extra coats.

i keep coats here and launder if necessary. its extra work but that way there is never a day where someone is under dressed. its like pulling teeth to get some parents to send in appropriate clothing.

Some of my clients leave a winter coat here. Winter coats are usually too bulky to wear in a carseat for safety reasons so most of my clients leave the heavy coat here and dress their child in a thinner coat/sweater for the car ride. I'm fortunate to have a cubby for each child so the extra coats live in the kids' cubbies.
