I had a short (4 letters) but hard last name to write also that is always misspelled or mistaken for a different lastname (Nunez, Munoz, Munez etc) ... my maiden last name is not a common one and I don't meet many people with it and I've ALWAYS had problems with my bank whenever someone wrote it wrong. Now that I'm married and have a longer last name (10 letters) that is also commonly misspelled I just REQUIRE that all of my families give me a blank check. I'd rather write my own name on it than have problems with my bank. I want to get paid ::.

This is what I do as well (except certain parents I had a hard copy directly to)

My first name is always hard for parents to spell, I get all kinds of variations but if it's not correct I always hand it back and ask they fix. I just say its a liability with my bank, but really I just prefer not to write on the check. I guess I'm to paranoid and don't trust anyone anymore!

You can get them at Vistaprint: http://www.vistaprint.com/rubber-sta...11817016&GNF=0

or Rubberstamps.com (sorry, apparently the url for the website is a no-no )

We have a local store that makes them, too.
