    NO Laughing, Cooking Help

Ok, so the ones that know me know that I am a vegan. Well the rest of my family is not.

My husband has been working very very hard at his new job and I have been trying to get dinner on the table for him by the time he gets home.

I do not know how to cook meat at all, which is his favorite. NOrmally he did this for our family and the DCKs but now, he just can't.

I really really want to make a meatloaf for him. So I look up google search how to make one.

In the ingredients it says to add all spice?????? what does this mean? does this mean I add every spice I have? STOP laughing at me... I know you are...

I never use spices in my food, I do not even eat salt when I cook. HHHHEEELLLPPPPP

All spice is a specific spice. Similar to accent spice, I think any way. I don't have any recipes that call for "all spice". Food.com is an awesome site for various different recipes. It's very sweet of you to do this, btw.

I'm not laughing by the way.

    Really, I'm not.

Hahaha.. no, don't put vanilla in a meatloaf! I have never heard of that, but it sounds gross. Vanilla is more for cookies or cakes, desserts, no meatloafs or meats.

I love cooking meat, it's the noodles and cookies I burn.

          I can help with this!!

First, I hate meatloaf, EXCEPT for this recipe, which was passed down to me from my grandma.

          1. Get a bunch of croissonts, and put them in the oven at 200 degrees until they are hard (20 mins or so). When they cool, put them in a zip lock bag and make breadcrumbs. (This is the secret ingredient.) you want about 2 cups of croissant crumbs for the recipe.

          2. Melt a stick of butter in a pan.

          3. Dice 1 onion and add to the butter until they are transparent.

          4. While onions are cooking, dice 5-6 celery stalks (keep the leaves if available).

          5. Add celery to onion mixture and cook another 3 minutes or so.

          6. Take a package of ground beef (or ground turkey, a healthier alternative) and place in a large bowl. Add 2 large eggs (or 3 medium). Add the croissont breadcrumbs, and salt and pepper (maybe 1/2 Tsp pepper and 1 tsp salt), and the onions and celery. Mix together to form a loaf.

If too sticky, add more breadcrumbs. If too dry, add another egg.

Form into a loaf and place in a baking dish.

Make an indentation in the middle of the loaf. Set aside.

          7. Mix together equal parts of brown sugar and ketchup (about 1.5 cups each) and stir. Pour over the loaf and cover it thoroughly.

          Bake 350 for one hour.

Your dh will LOVE this recipe!

ooooooooooohhh ...I feel so stupid right now....not sure if its because I don't know how or if it is because I have waited this long to even try.

Ok no vanilla in the meatloaf...... sounds like icecream

Self note... always ask before adding things to meat....

this sounds very nice...only one thing. My husband will not eat bread. Guess I should have stated that from the start. The one that I am making is carb free. So now bread products.

Do you think that I can make yours without the bread??

I'm good with noodles, and meat in the oven (grilling is the hubby's job). I can't bake every single time.

                I'm glad I didn't offend you...I'm was trying to resist but couldn't.

Sunshinemama's recipe looks good but here's a recipe that seems like you SHOULD have everything you need. I glanced, and I have everything. If you don't have an onion, you can use onion powder instead.

I've never tried this recipe, but it seemed simple and has good reviews. That's what I love about food.com, everything is rated and I have yet to make a top recipe that I don't love.

Absolutely delicious meatloaf and sauce! Those who claim they don't believe there can be such a thing as a great meatloaf will love this. Based on a m

Just kidding, most meat loaf has bread in it---or crackers. The one I linked to has bread in it.

                  Well, I'm not help then.

A lot of times with cooking, less is more because you want the flavor of the meat and veggies to come out.

Another very easy recipe is to take a chunk of chuck roast, salt and pepper both sides, and toss it in a crock pot with 3-4 potatoes (cut into 4's) and some carrots. Cook on low for 8-9 hours.

My husband loves that recipe and it is SO easy to do. With meats like chuck roast and brisquet and lamb, the longer you cook them on a low setting the softer they become because the low heat makes the tendons in the meat melt.

I recommend getting a slow cooker! you can make meals for your dh that take you less than 15 minutes, and they are hot and ready for him when he gets home with no disruption to your day.

I think your husband is Filipino too, right? You can surprise him with chicken adobo with a slow cooker as well! it will cook all day and you just have to make rice right before he gets home

daycare you are too funny. Although, i think all spice is a weird addition for meatloaf, myself.

                      My recipe for meatloaf:

                      1 lb ground beef
                      1 lb ground turkey
                      1 chopped onion
                      ~1 cup oats/breadcrumbs
                      salt and pepper to taste
                      1 egg
~1 cup tomato sauce/ketchup/spaghetti sauce ( I do half a 12 oz can of tomato sauce)

Mix it up/squish it around. Press into loaf pan. Top with rest of can of sauce/more ketchup. Bake at 350 for about an hour
Hee hee! Look, I have a signature!

the breadcrumbs act as something to help hold the meat together, without it, the loaf will crumble

hahahahh yes good memory.. he does love chicken adobo.....but I know that I could never make it like his mother and would be embarrassed to even try.... but what could be more embarrassing than what I just did....hahaha

he loves Chicken and Pork Apretada, but again, won't try to compete with his mom...

I do have a air cooker?? not the same as crocking pot right??
