Someone, Please... I'll Pay You To Take Him...

I'm talking about MURPHY! Ugh! I have a kiddo who has been picked up at 4:00 for five weeks as one of the parents has had PT. Today is trick or treat where we live, so of course, today is the day of no PT and parent going back to regular work hours. ALL my others are leaving early, and this one kid will be here until close now. And of course, nobody told me this until this morning. My poor son.

Cant you take him with you, and meet them somewhere along the way? That's what I do with my last kiddo, who stays almost 2 hours longer than the rest. Since mom and I both have cellphones, it's easy to meet up.

I have my niece and nephew coming and we are doing a "spooky supper" before we go out... I guess I don't feel like I should have to share things with daycare kids that should be family time. I know they didn't do anything wrong, I'm just frustrated...

I'm surprise that they won't leave work a bit early. Maybe they will and surprise you. But also don't be surprised if they decide to work late either and then your stuck bringing him out.

Thanks! Just knowing someone "gets it" makes me feel better! This kid is sweet and I love the family, just seems like there is always one kid who messes up an early day. LOL

              Sorry this is happening.

EXACTLY why I require schedules from families each week with BOTH pick up and drop off times written out so I know EXACTLY when I will be off work each day.

This whole situation will happen every.single.time when you have something planned. GUARANTEED. Been doing this long enough to know that is just how it works. Murphy is a busy guy!

Very true. I now try to close on days I have an appointment and try to get all the appointments I can get done in one day. I just had too many parents that would pick that one time a year to be late when I would just try to close a little earlier to get somewhere.

I wouldn't allow it. I would simply let the parent know, "Hey you've been picking up by 4:00pm for the last few weeks... I figured today would be no different. The rest of the kiddos are going to be gone by ( this time ) so little Johnny also needs to be picked up by then because I have plans. Sorry for the inconvenience. Next time, be sure to inform me of a schedule change in advance!"

Of course the parent will be mad... but that's what happens when you don't consider the people around you.

And whoever recommended to bring the child with... NO WAY! Not daycare's responsibility!

I hear ya- from here on out I will be closing early on days like this. I have to TAKE the breaks I want.. otherwise there is always one. And they all get plenty of (paid) breaks... I gotta start putting my kid first. Thanks for listening!

I couldn't agree more with what I made red above! And I wish I had done that... but's okay... it is what it is. Closing early from now on. Wish I could just watch kids who's parent's had similiar values about their childen as I do. LOL
