    November 1st Plans

    I am having a party for Halloween and am really excited. I get to give the kids the fun for 1-1.5 hours then send them home with their parents once the candy and excitement kicks in .

    Its the day AFTER Halloween that is going to be difficult.

    What are your Nov 1 plans? Any good tips since all the kids will be out late, juiced on candy and probably dirty from the night before?

    CLOSE!!! ::

    Just kidding. If kids are dirty (which they definitely shouldn't be) I would just hand the parents a wet cloth at the door and tell them to clean their child up! As for the being juiced up on candy... we do our halloween party the day of so that the day after is nice and relaxing. We're having a pajama day and maybe watching a halloween-themed movie (we only watch tv./movies about 3 times a year - usually holidays) so it will be a nice sugar-free treat for the kids.

      I am closed on Halloween day but ALL my parents get warned that if their child has a "Halloween hangover" they WILL be sent home.

      I get that the day falls on a weekday but it is still a regular day the next day and I refuse to be the one to deal with the aftermath if parents let their child stay out too late or let them eat too much candy.

          Every year I say I should never be open the day after Easter or Halloween but I am.. We will just have nap early if needed.

          Actually most of the parents took the kids to trick or trunks on Sat so most do not even plan on going out or opening the door past 7:00
          It:: will wait

            This! Nothing like 2 Mondays in one week

            I actually am hoping for a really good day. Start of a new month, maybe start of new behaviors! (hey-I can dream)

              This made me laugh.

              Two mondays, never thought of it like that. UGGG.

              I have a new kid starting this week. The most kids I have ever had here ever. ever. sigh..... And a 4 day a week family coming 5 days just for the party on Halloween. Two bad ideas I think.

              Plus my husband has two days off, today and tomorrow which always throws things out of whack. And my LO had a pre op appointment today for her surgery next week so we decided on family flu shots. That might have been a stupid idea too! Oh well.

              Survivial it is.

                      I always email the parents in advance and give a friendly reminder to try to put their children to sleep at a somewhat normal time without sugar overload. I have no problem sending the child home if they can't function (just like I would when they are sick). Otherwise, I just survive like everyone else

                        Duct tape for the kids, bottle of wine for me

                        In all seriousness, lots of gross motor activities!

                          Absolutely!!

                          Here is this years wording:

                          "Please use your best judgment when allowing your child to feast on their Trick or Treating loot as any child experiencing the affects of having eaten too much candy or staying out or up too late, WILL be sent home.

                          These symptoms/behaviors include, extreme crankiness, being excessively whiney, over tiredness, tummy aches, diarrhea and a general poor disposition. These behaviors can make it difficult to have a normal day and although I do fully understand the holiday falls on a weekday, children are still expected to be in good health, emotionally, mentally and physically in order to be in child care the following day."
