Hurricane Sandy

We didn't lose our power. The winds kept me up most of the night. My 5 yr old slept right through it. My 8 yr old stayed up with hubby to keep an eye on things. It's still raining, but it's a light steady rain and it's still windy.
We had no damge. My neighbor is missing some shingles off his garage roof and 3 houses down, the house is missing some siding. I haven't ventured off my porch so I don't know what other damage/debis there is.

I am right on Lake Erie in Ohio. They did close schools last night. amazingly we have power but, a lot of our neighbors in our city do not. We used to hav e a basketball hoop....it is laying in my driveway. My husband said "Oh, good thing we werent parked there." I said "no, too bad we werent!"just glad we are all safe.
The kicker is I am supposed to have first dcb start tomorrow! But, his mom is a FB friend of mine so maybe he will still come!

Should I have to pay

Hi I am new to the forum and have a question for everyone. I have 2 children enrolled in a local daycare in my area and due to hurricane sandy I received a letter sent home stating that I will have to pay for the 4 days that were missed and I was appalled. I feel that I should not have to pay since no service was provided, no overhead that they incurred due to no power,they are not paying the teachers for time off,and since daycare was not provided I had to take off of work for the entire time even though my business was open. I also own a small business and since I was closed for two days I cannot send a bill to customers stating that they owe me money for a service I did not provided. I feel that I am in the right by not having to pay for the four days that were missed. Please help with similar stories or with help of what I should do
