I have to buy two new cribs before the end of this year because my cribs don't meet the new safety standards. I use full size wooden cribs. I am at a loss at where I should buy them and what kind or brand name. I do know that I want one where the crib mattress raises to different levels and the top part of the side rail flops down on hinges...not drop side...I know we can't have those. I have been looking at some in the child care catalogs, but the ones with the hinged sides and raised mattresses also have plexi-glass ends. I want wooden bars all the way around. I don't want to have to wash plexi-glass all the times. Also i am not sure if the cribs with the features that I want come in full size or not . I don't want cribs that fold either. Anyone have any ideas? What type did you all buy?

I use PNP's instead. They take up less room and are easier for me.
A provider friend of mine uses this one: http://www.babysdream.com/ViewItem.aspx?pid=12
Anywhere you buy a crib, it should meet the new safety standards since ALL manufacturers had to comply so I don't think you have to look specifically for any brand or store. I hope that helps.- Flag

my choice does not fit you either but I love it. I have porta cribs. the white metal folding one. I believe it is called either Holiday crib or some places evacuation crib. Works for me because I need something for evacuation.It:: will wait

I just bought two wood portacribs off Amazon. LOVING them. Easy to wheel around and look nicer in the room.
I was having a hard time keeping the mesh clean on the PNP's and little fingers were poking holes.
Very satisfied with the new ones. Don't take up much space.- Flag

If I could afford cribs for daycare kids I would. I have two in pnp now and I have one infant who will start in January at 3 months and miss having my crib. Space is limited but I do have 2 pnp's. You will have to go out shopping and see what you like for cribs! I know I'm VERY specific when I buy new, but more flexible if it isn't new. We just found our perfect crib for our first child at Bed Bath and Beyond but it is only in their store not listed online.- Flag

I'm going with full cribs and I'm probably getting them from Wal-Mart. Best prices I've found and they ship for free to the store if there is one I want that is not in the store. I like their mini cribs-most have wheels.
I don't want to use PNP. Thought about it but they seem so hard, even with the little pad.- Flag

I just visited with my licensor as I have to purchase a new crib for the new baby on the way (mine)...she said to make sure they were manufactured after June 28th, 2011 (I think that is the date...I will make sure). The new ones will have a sticker on the bottom stating that it meets the necessary requirements.
So, I found one online at walmart, went to the store and checked it out...looked great. I bought it, brought it home, and no sticker- it was manufactured before the necessary date. Went back, returned it, opened a second box in store and sure enough, there was the sticker. So, please make sure it really does meet the requirements!
**************Please note: I am in MN and this is what our rules are...I am unsure of another state****************************
Effective December 28, 2012, all cribs that are used by or are accessible to any child in care must either have a permanent marking on the crib showing that the date of manufacture was after June 28, 2011; or manufacturer documentation of compliance for each crib must be provided.
What you should do….
For cribs that do not have a permanent marking, the provider will need to provide documentation of compliance. Documentation of compliance must be one of the following:
**A registration card showing date of manufacture after June 28, 2011, or;
**Certificate of compliance, General Conformity Certificate, or Children’s Product
Certificate(all three are synonymous). A crib with one of these certificates may have been
manufactured prior to June 28, 2011. If that is the case, the certificate must specify that
the crib is certified to comply with 16 CFR 1220 or 16 CFR 1219 to be considered
compliant with the new standards.
**Purchase receipts alone are not sufficient documentation of compliance.- Flag
