Some of the smaller centers will allow it.

Most prefer not to allow it as it causes serious issues when the child needs to move up or down a class for ratios.

Many parents would not be happy about it and can cause some problems for you with management. They will be looking for signs of preferrential treatment, so you almost have to look to your own son last, all the time.

      I gets very difficult.

At the center I worked at for 5 years, this happened but not on a regular basis. It was more a sub type situation, and then it was only with the mom's that weren't a push over, and would treat their child the same as everyone else.

So while it happened, only about 3 or so mom's where allowed at all, and then only every couple of months.

I have moved from a small center in my home with 3 employees to a larger center with many more. At my home, I would not hire one with their own children because there was no way to separate them. At our center, we try not to put teacher and child in the same room. It usually becomes too much of a conflict. There ends up being issues where the child is treated differently. And by differently it may be favoritism or it may be the child being treated too harshly in an effort of the teacher to not show favoritism or it may be that the teachers parenting style does not mesh with the centers way of working with the children and it is too easy to fall back into "mommy mode" instead of "teacher mode" when it is with your own child. Right now we have 3 teachers who have children in our center. 2 of them are not with their own children. 1 of them we didn't have much of a choice because of the age of one of the children put them in the same class the mom was already here teaching. We are watching it very closely to make sure that issues don't arise.

I dont think a lot of place on my area will allow it. I have tried allowing it with my daycare assistants and find that the vast majority of moms cannot handle it. Usually they end up getting frustrated that the idea of being with their child all day is very different than the reality of what happens in group care. plus sometimes the moms do okay with it but it is the child that cannot adjust, especially the under 2 crowd.
