Subs- Annoying Prep Work

Anyone else feel like having a sub is more work than its worth? I feel like the days leading up to the sub coming are so much work, cleaning a little more since I am used to living here with the usual mess, writing sub notes, preping lunch/etc if I have an afternoon one so I don't have to worry about getting that done etc. Yesterday I left for 2 hours for my kids dr appt and I did well over a day and half of work just to make everything line up right.

Dude, how annoying.... Am I over doing it or do other people feel like being gone is way to much hassle?

I'm with you. In my "vent" yesterday that was one of my frustrations. I can't ever just leave for an appt. like other people. I have to cover all basis! Next week I'm having one so I can go to a Halloween party for a childs class. I will have to make sure kids are done eating, laying down, everything written down, schedules laid out of who's picked up when, etc.

Heaven forbid if the food program lady shows up that day. It will knock everything out of whack-. Also, I have to make sure my sub knows where all paperwork is in case of a food inspection/house inspection. I know that would drive my sub over the edge.

Its easier to just close but then all my parents let me know what a hassle it is for them. If they only knew what it takes to get a sub-

I completely agree. I always try and make things as easy as possible for the sub - like having them come during naptime, all kids fed and changed so the sub is doing nothing but supervising. On the day I have to have a sub I am usually exhusted after my regular work, getting ready for the sub, then using naptime for whatever it is I have to do.

I once took 2 days off and had a sub. SO MUCH WORK. Not worth it.

My kids are adults now so I don't take them to the doctor, dentist, or have school programs etc. so it does get easier.
