Coughing Kids Giving The Lovely Gift Of Germs

I had a DCC who has been out for 2 days due to the flu (VIRAL BUG).. He had been on antibiotics for 2 days but I still coughing frequently. I taught him how to use his arm to hold his cough but sometimes he forgets and raises his head and gives a big cough to share his lovely germs. I love the kid, but don’t care too much for those pesky germ. Plus, I am a bit of a germ a phob.

Any suggestions for lowering the risk to the other children.. I was thinking about making him a hanky to cover his coughs but I am sure that he would leave it some where. We was our hands so many times I could probably make a fire with my hands and a piece of wood.

I would like something fun for the kids to do because I am about to pull out my hair with this

    Sincerely,
    Germ a phob

I think the hanky would get all germs and passed around by all of the kids eventually. I would just keep on doing the cough in elbow routine, and use its soap and water, and the instant hand sanitizer when you can. And try to keep your windows open whenever possible.

Last year I had the nuro-virus hit my daycare and we all got it including the parents. Since then I have bought child sized masks from Walgreens and when the kids have bad coughs or sneezes I make them wear them. The kids actually LOVE them. I draw little faces on the front or put stickers on them. I've even explained what I do with the parent's and they love it to cause it lessens the risk of their child to get sick too!

          fun face mask idea

I love the idea of the fun face mask.. I have been wearing a face mask to avoid the spread of germs to the kiddos.. I havent thought about making a happy face or stickers.

I will even go so far as to allowing him to decorate his own mask to show off to the other kids.. They love stuff like that.

Yup we love them and the kids do too. I just use regular crayola markers on them. I never thought of letting them color them themselves LOL
