    Change of Clothes

I am SUPER annoyed. I had a DCG age three spill berries on her pants and had no change of clothes on her hook. I have asked several times. Her Mom keeps forgetting. I put her in my daughters pants today and at lunch she got sauce on them. They were really nice pants. If the stain doesn't come out do I say something to the parent/have her get my daughter a new pair? I told the Mom that if there is not TWO full changes of clothes including pants, shirt, panties and socks going forward then her child would not be accepted into care until she has all the supplies I need!

Yup, I'd tell the parent they need to replace the pants/cover the cost of replacing them!

And good on you for telling DCM that DCK won't be accepted into care until a change of clothes is brought!!

Please don't take this the wrong way, but I would not ask for the parents to replace your daughter's pants. I know it's frustrating and difficult to be strict with parents, but ultimately you should have not accepted dcg into your care without appropriate back up clothing (ie turn parents away at the door if they do not have the clothing). If you do not or cannot stand your ground, then you should plan to have some spare clothing on hand for daycare children.

I would have left the DCG in stained clothing. I think it gets the point across. At pickup "Dcg got pretty messy today we will need those clothes by tomorrow so she doesn't go home filthy again!"

IF I have to use one of my ds's clothing items, I make sure they are play and I absolutely do NOT want them back. The only time I got a pair of pants back was when dcb wore them to my house!

I also agree you should not accept a child into care unless you have all the supplies required to provide care. Turn them away at the door if necessary. Responsibility to provide these items belongs to the parent, so the consequence is theirs.

Personally, I keep spares just in case so I could have laundered the pants and changed the child back into them by the end of the day.

I do not, however, agree that the parent need pay for damage to your daughters nice pants. Unfortunately, that was a choice you made and the consequence of that falls to you, IMHO.
            - Unless otherwise stated, all my posts are personal opinion and worth what you paid for them.

In the future, keep the child in dirty clothing. I've let a child wear a dark pair of pants before because they urinated in their own only to stick them in a diaper for pick up. You aren't taking home one of my pairs of clothing.

Raspberry or other food I'd just wipe it off and leave the clothing on. No biggie there. If a child had urinated or soilded him/herself and I didn't have extra clothes I'd call the parent to bring the extra clothing.
