Today I learned that one of my previous clients put their child into a daycare center that has 15 violations that include the physical abuse to the children and providers not using sound judgment. My sister who also provides care for children told me that she walked in the center and witnessed a daycare teacher pushing a child down after screaming at her. She then observed another teacher at the center use inappropriate communication to a toddler that did not want to be a part of the lesson for the day. Her parent asked her to do drop off and pick up because they charge $95 a week for transportation. Her DCP completed a walk threw and also observed a teacher hitting a child. She told the center that she did not want her child in the room with that teacher because of what she saw but did not report the information to the state.
As a provider, it breaks my heart to see children have to go through this. I do not understand why parents would still choose a center after witnessing the abuse. Also, WHY IS NO ONE REPORTING THIS TO THE STATE. I don’t care how many programs you offer such as “My Baby can Read,” or “Beka” or how nice your facility is because of francising. The reality of the fact that your staff is abusing children and should not be tolerated.
I have advised my sister to report what she has witnessed because it is wrong. I didn’t tell her that out of competition, but what is right is right and the director should know the minimum standards does not tolerate it.
