My DD and I might be going to Disney for a few days first week of dec. I wont know for sure until Nov 20 so I dont want to say yet, but dont want to wait until the 20th. She has competition on the 4th and if they win, she goes on to the 20th, then nationals. I am thinking about giving them a heads up after the 4th and say just be prepared. whatch think? Oh, BTW its for happyface!

I was in this situation many times and I always let the parents know there was the "possibility" of me being gone, so they could formulate a back up plan. They always appreciated the heads up & then when I knew for sure if I was going to off, I'd give it to them again in writing. -

I personally would just say that I was closing on those particular dates, then everyone is 100% prepared.
Should you find out that you won't be going after all, let your parents know on November 20th that there was a change in plans and that you will be open and kids are more than welcome to attend as usual (I guarantee all will).Comment

I've gone thru this every year for the past 4 years. I actually changed my contract to 2 weeks notice for my vacation time instead of my original 30 days notice because of this possibility. I've started to prepare my parents now - although I haven't mentioned that this time I would probably have to close the entire week - the 1st year we made it to Disney my DD competed on Monday, so we came home Tuesday - only closed those 2 days. This year we'd compete on Wed. so if I would probably close Mon-Thurs and then whats the sense in being open on Friday so may just close the entire week. Parents might not like that too much but for now I've just told them where we are at - made it thru first competition, will update them after the 4th and then will give them a definite after our last competition on the 17th. This lets them get some idea of what they will do in case we make it - I'd hate to blindside them in late November!
