Yesterday I had a DCM who was very late for pick up. She is normally here at 5pm and didn't show up until 5:30pm. No phone call...nothing. I am open until 5:30 so that didn't matter but the child is used to being picked up at 5pm so she was waiting for DCM to come and pick her up. She is dropped off at 6:45am in the morning as well so it is a long day away from DCM and DCD.
At one point I was preparing things for supper and she said to me - I wish you were my mom, you do a lot for your kids and I wish I could sit at the table and eat with your family. I will probably have a frozen pizza again.
Then this morning I was putting another DCG's school book back into her backpack and her project fell out onto the floor. It was a project they had done about their hopes and dreams. The first page was a question about what their biggest dream was, it said - To have a happy family who loves each other just like my daycare family does.
Just wanted to say this morning that no matter how frustrating childcare may be, be thankful that you are at home with your children and remember that today you are making a difference in the lives of many children. They will remember how things were at Miss ......'s house and will hold onto that memory when they become parents later on.
