What a Difference a Day Makes!

Yesterday was so peaceful, quiet, calm. Today, craziness again. Yesterday the ODD dcb went home sick (stomach flu). Threw up twice here and the last time was around 8:45 just before his grandparent picked him up. So technically, he shouldn't be here. But he is back today, and just his presence riles everyone up! It has been crazy and lots of fighting and whining. We haven't had any major offenses by ODD dcb yet, just bickering and stuff like that. Man, I hope I didn't just jinx myself! But he does change the tone of the way they all relate to eachother, and not in a good way. I am just hoping I get thru the next week and a half with all of my hair! Then either I have 3 weeks off from him or I terminate. I told mom we would see how it goes until they have break, and then we would talk and make a decision.

I placed something new in my contract- if daycare children are sent home with a fever, etc. they cannot return the next day, regardless of what time they left here. I have found out that parents have lied just to be able to come back, and then got everyone inc. myself sick with it!!!! THey said they haven't vomited, or fever since they left here- it's ok to return tomorrow at this time correct?

Yeah Ive heard that too. Mine says they have to be symptom free for 24 hours without the aid of medication. As in, if you drop Sonny off and tell me his fever is gone and 4 hours later he mysteriously has a fever I'm royally pissed. I have no issue with asking the kid himself if mommy has given him medicine before coming over or if he has vomited etc. Usually "moms'" story and kids story aren't the same.

Yep, I wouldn't have let him come if he was throwing up yesterday. I hope you get lucky and he doesn't make a mess for you to clean up.....and that the other kids don't come down with it and create a mess for you to clean up....good luck with that

I had a child that acted up all the time and all the children acted different too. I ended up terminating and it was so peaceful after that. The other kids in my care actually said they were happy that ____ was gone now.

I had heard afterwards that he started hitting his new DC provider, and I had thought getting blocks thrown at me was bad so I knew I had made a good decision.

Yeah I agree - I wouldn't have let him come today. I'm a stickler with my sick policy.
