Was This Strange Or I Am Reading Too Much Into It ...

While we where outside playing yesterday afternoon early evening, a car drove up parked very near where we where playing in my front yard (it is not

fenced) I was sitting on the grass the kids where playing soccer, the lady in the car looked right at me then got on her phone. When her phone

conversation was over, she drove down the rode in the opposite direction she came. She pulls down the next side street this will get her to the bog

street I thought she came from. We live one side street block of a bigger street not what I would call major but big enough that a mile down the rode

in front of the jr. high there are cross guards. At this point, I was thinking she need to make a call and wanted to be safe no problem. Then about ten

minutes later (about 10 min)she cams back down the street from the direction she left and slows down in front of my house and looks right at me.

At this point, I realize that all my neighbors have been doing this all week. Not just when we are outside but when we are inside too they slow down in

front of my house and look to see me make eye contact if I am around do not wave are anything. I find this to be creepy and funny I have nothing to hind

and if the way I run my daycare is impacting my neighbors they should come talk to me about it.

I don't think you're reading much into it; it sounds pretty bizarre. I'd be nervous too, I think.
Hee hee! Look, I have a signature!

Hmmm. Very odd. I would simply smile and wave when they are driving by and starring You said you have nothing hide, so don't sweat it. I would be prepared for a visit from licensing though, you never know.

Whats weird is you say ALL your neighbors are doing this. Did you put up some odd decorations for Halloween or something? I would find it odd that everyone is doing it.

Could you call liscensing and see if there are any complaints against you?

Every car that I have seen. We have not decorated for Halloween yet.

I think I will smile and wave next time.

                That's really strange.

We get looks when we are at the park because we are a large group (10 children). They just look like they're horrified by that many children. :: When they stare, I tell my kiddos, "Wave and say hello! " and they do. The people always get embarrassed and stop staring.

Is it possible someone has been spreading rumours about you or they have you confused with someone else (same name) ? Or has there been a newspaper story about a daycare that is in trouble and they possibly assume it's you??

That would creep me out too...like someone is out "gunning" for you or checking to see if you're a child serial killer or something

You know what's hilarious... this actually happens to me alot too and it didn't even cross my mind when I read your first post. I spend ALOT of time in my kitchen (cooking, preping food, doing dishes, getting cleaning supplies, sweeping, etc) and I have a very large kitchen window - therefore, I spend alot of time looking out my window. And almost every single car that drives down our road (lots of traffic, but mostly "regulars" of the neighborhood) slow down and look at our house!! Even people walking by! I used to think that it was because there is a very obvious sign on our front door that just says not to riing the doorbell because there are sleeping children... but LOTS of people have signs on their door to not ring the bell, to use the other door, etc. Plus, once you've seen the sign once, why are you looking again. IT'S SOMETHING ELSE... but I never gave it a second thought until re-reading this thread. LOL.

                    WHAT'S GOING ON?!

Can you ask a neighbor why people are doing that.

are you following all licensing rules, home owners association rules etc?

If I were really freaked out I would take down the license # of the cars and call the police. Tell them what is happening and that you are concerned for the safety of the children. Could they find out why these people are stalking you? And stalking is what they are doing.

Most of the cars are people that park in the alley across the street from me, from my livingroom window I can see the alley that is the back of two courts

so 12+ residents park there I think I might start asking questions. Not sure when becaue I do not whant to start what could be a confertational

conversation with the daycare kids present. There has been alot of "new" people that moved onto my street this year maybe it is poeple that do not

know I do daycare? If that is what it is not sure how to fix that when I first opened I sent out flyers letting everyone know I was in the neighborhood. I

am following all the rules lic. rules.

Are you positive it's your neighbors? Sometimes I have periods where I get A LOT of "drive bys" of people who found memonline and want to come look at my home to "get a feel". Could it just be people looking for daycare?

It is really creepy. I would feel weird if that was happening to me. Can you play in a different yard? Probably not, but worth a shot
